2 Accused Arrested in Case of Girl Abduction After Firing Incident
Special Detective Unit Secures 6-Day Police Remand
Kaithal, August 30, 2025 –
The Special Detective Unit (SDU) has arrested two men in connection with the case of a young woman abducted from a village in Cheeka after shots were fired. The police spokesperson stated that the girl and her husband belonged to different castes and had married out of love.
Background of the Incident
On the night of February 15, the girl’s family called relatives from Meerut, Uttar Pradesh. Subsequently, the accused went to the girl’s in-laws’ home and fired multiple shots into the air. They assaulted the husband and forcibly took the girl with them to Meerut. The following day, the SDU successfully rescued the girl from Meerut.
Arrest of the Accused
Earlier, five suspects in the case had already been apprehended. On Friday, the SDU team, led by SI Ramesh Chand and assisted by ASI Tarsem, received information that the wanted accused – Sukhdev alias Sukha and Manjeet from Mirzapur, Meerut – would be attending a court hearing for an unrelated matter.
As soon as the two exited the court, the Kaithal SDU team apprehended them and placed them in a vehicle. During the arrest, the accomplices of Sukhdev and Manjeet tried to forcibly free them, leading to a scuffle with the police team.
Police Action and Legal Proceedings
The police successfully restrained the accused and lodged a case at Meerut Police Station against their associates for obstructing police duty and attempting to rescue the accused. The court granted 6 days police remand for further investigation and interrogation of Sukhdev and Manjeet.
