First Aid Training Becomes Vital Part of School Education

Guhla Cheeka, August 13, 2025 โ€” In todayโ€™s scientific era, first aid knowledge is essential for every section of society. For students, it is an important and necessary part of the school curriculum. These were the views shared by Sunita Jagat, Principal of Government Senior Secondary School, Kharaudi, while addressing students during a special training programme.

She praised the training methods of Professor Raja Singh Jhinjar, Gold Medalist and Master Trainer from St. John Ambulance International Association India, noting that such meaningful sessions prove useful throughout life. She stressed that every student and staff member should know how to provide immediate first aid during emergencies to help save lives.

Organised Under National Life Safety Programme

The training was conducted under the Citizen Life Safety Scheme of the government, under the guidance of Dr. Rajpal Poonia, National President of St. John Ambulance International Association India. A total of 423 students and 20 staff members participated.

Key Safety Instructions and Techniques

Professor Raja Singh Jhinjar cautioned against giving water to an unconscious student, explaining that it could be life-threatening. Instead, the person should be laid flat, tight clothing loosened, and both legs raised about 1.5 feet to aid blood flow to the brain.

The session covered detailed first aid procedures for school emergencies and disasters, including:

  • Fainting
  • Bone fractures
  • Clothes catching fire
  • Electric shocks
  • Heart attacks
  • Cardiac arrest and respiratory failure
  • Bleeding control
  • Treating poisonous bites

Participants were given hands-on CPR training using a human mannequin, which became the highlight of the event.

Participantsโ€™ Experiences

Professor Surender Singh Theend described it as the first time he had the opportunity to perform CPR on a mannequin, calling it a โ€œvaluable life skill.โ€ He noted that providing correct first aid at the right time is possible only through proper training.

Presence of Faculty Members

The event was attended by faculty members including Tarsem Singh, Arpana, Sonia Singla, Lalita Kumari, Poonam, Mukesh Kumar, Sumit Kumar, Satnarayan Sharma, Bhushan Sharma, Sanjeev Kumar, Paramjeet Singh, Sheeshpal, and Ram Bhool, along with all teaching staff.
