DAV College, Cheeka, in collaboration with the NSS Unit and the Department of Political Science, organized a speech competition to mark the birth anniversaries of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar and Mahatma Jyotiba Phule.

Providing details about the event, Professor Neeraj Singh from the Political Science Department said that the objective was to enlighten students about the philosophies, reformist efforts, and educational vision of these great social leaders.

A total of 30 students participated in the competition. Sahil, a final-year BA student, secured the first place, followed by Ajay in second and Divya in third position.

Addressing the gathering, College Principal Dr. Jasbir Singh emphasized the importance of the values propagated by both visionaries.

“Dr. B.R. Ambedkar and Mahatma Phule dedicated their lives to fighting for equality, justice, and education. Their thoughts continue to inspire us today,” he said.

Dr. Singh urged students to embody Ambedkar’s constitutional values and Phule’s educational ideals in their daily lives.

“It is our responsibility to walk the path of knowledge, unity, and humanity to fulfill their dreams. Education is the strongest weapon we have to eliminate discrimination and inequality,” he added.

He praised all participants for their efforts and highlighted how such events help connect youth with important social issues.

Public Sentiment:
The event received heartfelt appreciation from attendees. Students expressed pride in engaging with the values of two of India’s most transformative leaders. There was a strong sense of inspiration and renewed motivation to uphold the ideals of equality and education in modern society.

Dr. Virender Pal, addressing the students, noted,

“The social revolution initiated by Ambedkar and Phule remains deeply relevant even today. While Ambedkar gave us the constitutional right to equality, Phule laid the foundation for social reform through education, especially for women and marginalized communities.”
