18 Cases of Equipment Theft Solved Across Various Districts in Haryana

  • Seized Items: Swift car used in the crime, ₹70,000 cash, and 11 RRUs worth approximately ₹35 lakh

Acting on the directives of SP Rajesh Kalia to curb the rising incidents of RRU (Remote Radio Unit) equipment theft from mobile towers, the Anti-Vehicle Theft Police Staff has successfully busted a notorious gang. The police have arrested four accused and recovered key evidence, including a Swift car used in the crimes, tools, ₹70,000 in cash, and 11 RRUs valued at approximately ₹35 lakh. With these arrests, the police have solved 18 cases of tower equipment theft across different districts in Haryan

Details of the Arrest

During a press briefing, DSP Sushil Prakash provided detailed insights into the case. As per the complaint filed by Ranbir Singh, a supervisor at RS Security, the company is responsible for the security of Indus Mobile Towers. On March 13, unidentified individuals stole RRU equipment from a tower in the village of Pharal. Following this, a case was registered at the Pundri police station.

A police team led by Inspector Ranjit and SI Pradeep, with ASI Jasmer Singh, SI Shubhkaran, HC Sunil, HC Isham Singh, and HC Anil, acted on confidential information and arrested accused Vinodi, Pawan, and Kuldeep from near the village of Dusan, while another accused, Vinod alias Kuku, was arrested from the village of Gohida.

Modus Operandi

During interrogation, the accused revealed that they had been working in the mobile tower industry for nearly five years. However, irregular work and delayed salaries led them to start stealing RRU units, which fetch a high resale value—ranging from ₹2.5 lakh to ₹5 lakh per unit. Over the past year, they had been systematically targeting mobile towers.

The accused admitted to being involved in:

  • 6 cases in Kaithal district
  • 9 cases in Karnal district
  • 2 cases in Kurukshetra district
  • 1 case in Yamunanagar district

They would sell the stolen equipment to their associate Sandeep, a resident of Indri, Karnal, who also had prior experience working on mobile towers.

The accused carried out reconnaissance during the day and executed the thefts at night. One member would climb the tower to keep watch while two others dismantled and removed the equipment. Another would monitor the surroundings. If they sensed someone approaching, the lookout would signal the others to hide the vehicle.

The police recovered a Swift car, tools used in the thefts, ₹70,000 in cash, and 11 stolen RRUs worth ₹35 lakh from the accused. Further investigation is ongoing.
