Kaithal– While the district police continue to raise awareness among the public about cyber fraud, they are also intensifying their crackdown on cybercriminals under the leadership of SP Rajesh Kalia.

In a recent case, the Cyber Crime Police Station team, led by PSI Shubhranshu and ASI Naresh Kumar, arrested Mohit Kumar, a resident of Pragati Vihar, Chhapraula, Gautam Buddh Nagar, UP, for duping people by sending fake links in the name of redeeming credit card reward points.

According to the police spokesperson, complainant Pawan Kumar, a resident of Ramthali village, received a call on July 23, 2024, from an unknown person claiming to be from a bank. The caller told him that he had some reward points on his credit card and could redeem them by clicking a link that would be sent to him.

Once Pawan clicked on the link, he was prompted to download an application and enter his credit card details. Shortly after, a total of ₹57,110 was fraudulently withdrawn from his card in three separate transactions.

A case was registered at the Cyber Crime Police Station, and the accused was presented in court on Tuesday, where he was remanded to two days of police custody.
