Pedaling for a Purpose: Cyclothon 2.0 Unites Haryana Against Drugs

In a powerful show of unity, energy, and purpose, Cyclothon 2.0—a state-wide bicycle campaign under the Drug-Free Haryana initiative—entered Kaithal on April 22. The rally began in Kurukshetra and rolled into Pabanawa village, welcomed by citizens, youth, and officials with flowers, cheers, and strong voices against drug abuse.

The event was launched under the leadership of Haryana’s Chief Minister Shri Nayab Singh Saini, who envisions a future where the youth rise above addiction and channel their energy into sports and positive development. The Kaithal leg of the journey saw massive participation from students, public figures, and thousands of cyclists.

Grand Welcome at Pabanawa Village

As the cycle rally entered Kaithal, MLA Satpal Jamba, BJP District President Jyoti Saini, and local leaders including Ashok Gurjar, sarpanches, and administrators, gathered to greet the cyclists. Also present were ADC Deepak Babu Lal Karwa and RTA Girish Kumar, representing the district administration.

Dr. Ashok Verma, who is leading the rally, administered an oath to all participants, urging them to remain drug-free. At several stops, people took symbolic pledges, including placing salt in food as a reminder of their commitment to stay sober.

Leaders Speak Out Against Drugs

Addressing the gathering, MLA Satpal Jamba delivered a powerful message:

“We will fight. We will win. We will uproot drugs from society.”

He praised the Chief Minister’s vision, saying Cyclothon 2.0 is gaining public support at every stop. He emphasized the role of parents in protecting children from drug mafias, who value money over lives. Jamba also mentioned the opening of sports stadiums and nurseries across districts to channel youth energy into productive paths.

He urged more young people to participate, helping spread the message to neighboring states as well.

A Push Toward Sports and Wellness

BJP District President Jyoti Saini echoed the Chief Minister’s commitment to a drug-free Haryana. She appealed to youth to stay focused on their goals and embrace sports, highlighting the role of physical activities in improving both mental and physical health.

“Stay away from drugs, play sports, and shape a better future,” she said, urging youth to use their energy in constructive ways.

Public Participation and Local Support

Senior BJP leader Ashok Gurjar emphasized the importance of taking the message of drug-free Haryana to every citizen. From youth to elders, the energy was palpable. People across Pabanawa, Dhund, Faral, Pundri, Moondri, and nearby villages came out in large numbers to welcome the cyclists.

Community leaders like Chairman Ishwar Sakra, sarpanches, and educators played active roles in organizing warm receptions, offering food, water, and encouraging speeches. Even school girls greeted cyclists with handmade rakhis, symbolizing brotherhood and unity in the fight against addiction.

A Journey Filled With Purpose

The cycle rally started in Pabanawa, moved through Dhund, and continued to Faral, Pundri, and Moondri, making multiple stops. At each location, local panchayats arranged refreshments and heartfelt welcomes. Flag-waving school children and banners promoting a drug-free lifestyle filled the streets.

Each event location had arrangements for:

  • Drinking water stations
  • Nutritious snacks
  • Cultural performances
  • Pledges and messages by youth leaders

Cycling Leaders Show the Way

Not just organizers, but even elected officials and senior officers rode bicycles alongside the youth. MLA Satpal Jamba led the rally on a cycle from Pabanawa to Dhund and beyond. BJP leaders Jyoti Saini and Ashok Gurjar, along with officers like ADC Deepak Karwa and RTA Girish Kumar, also pedaled in solidarity.

Their presence served as a strong message that no one is above the mission when the aim is to secure the next generation.

Upcoming Leg: Cyclothon to Jind

The campaign doesn’t end in Kaithal. On April 23, MLA Satpal Jamba will flag off the next segment of the Cyclothon 2.0 from the Kaithal Police Lines to Jind. The rally will pass through major locations like:

  • Mihir Bhoj Chowk
  • Pehowa Chowk
  • Old Bus Stand
  • Chandana and Kalayat
  • Shimla Village, before reaching Jind district

The Ayush Department will also conduct yoga sessions during this event to promote mental balance alongside physical wellness.

Authorities Emphasize Awareness and Vigilance

ADC Deepak Babu Lal Karwa thanked DC Preeti for overseeing seamless arrangements for the rally. From refreshment stations to police support, everything was aligned. He called drug abuse a social evil and emphasized the collective responsibility to fight it.

Zila Parishad Chairman Karmbir Kaul encouraged youth to adopt cycling as a daily habit, reducing both health risks and pollution.

A United Stand for a Brighter Tomorrow

Cyclothon 2.0 is more than a rally—it is a movement of hearts and minds. It is a call to youth, elders, leaders, and communities to:

  • Reject addiction
  • Embrace health
  • Build a cleaner, safer Haryana

From Pabanawa to Jind, this campaign is building momentum, powered by commitment and compassion.

Dr. Ashok Verma, the rally leader, concluded with a strong reminder:

“If you know someone trapped in addiction, help them. Don’t ignore them. Report illegal drug activity to authorities.”

He encouraged everyone to share information with the Haryana Police helpline or the national drug reporting portal.
