A Cyclothon to Inspire a Drug-Free Haryana
In a vibrant step toward building a healthier, drug-free future, Kaithal district witnessed the spirited launch of a Cyclothon. This event forms part of a larger mission envisioned by Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini. The goal? A Haryana free from the grip of drugs.

Leaders Wave the Flag
Local leaders played a key role in this initiative. MLA Satpal Jamba and BJP District President Jyoti Saini flagged off the Cyclothon from the Police Lines. Many dignitaries, including ADC Deepak Babulal Karwa and DSP Sushil Prakash, were also present to show their support.
Satpal Jamba emphasized how this movement can shape the character of Haryana’s youth. He noted that every pedal push adds strength to the anti-drug campaign. Quoting a popular local saying about Haryana’s clean lifestyle, he reminded everyone that drug abuse ruins individuals, families, and communities.
Massive Public Participation
From young people to senior citizens, from athletes to differently-abled individuals — everyone joined the ride. The event saw enthusiastic participation from all corners of Kaithal. The Cyclothon remained in the district for two days and then set off toward Jind, continuing its mission.
The Cyclothon received a grand welcome at many spots along the way, including Shimla village. The warm reception showed that the people of Kaithal are ready to fight against drug abuse together.
Message with a Pot of Salt
Leading the Cyclothon was Sub-Inspector Ashok Kumar. He carried a decorated pot on his cycle, symbolizing purity. Citizens added a pinch of salt into the pot, pledging to stay away from drugs. People also vowed to report drug dealers by calling helplines like 9050891508, 1933, or using the Maanas Portal.

Creating Awareness Through Yoga
Before the ride began, participants gathered for a yoga session organized by the AYUSH Department. This practice highlighted the value of a healthy lifestyle and how it can help keep youth away from addiction.
The Route and Reception
The Cyclothon moved through key locations such as Maharaja Mihir Bhoj Chowk, Pihowa Chowk, Old Bus Stand, Jakhauli Adda, and finally exited toward Jind via villages like Chandana, Kailram, Bata, and Kalayat. At each stop, people welcomed the riders with open arms.
Kalayat SDM Ajay Hooda greeted the Cyclothon as it entered his jurisdiction, reflecting the administration’s commitment to the campaign.
NGOs and Communities Join In
Social organizations also stepped up. They provided food, water, and moral support to the cyclists. Groups like Barfani Seva Mandal, Yuva Margdarshan Manch Haryana, and Akhil Bhartiya Manav Seva Samiti played active roles. The sports department contributed too. Led by senior boxing coach Gurmeet Singh, many athletes joined the ride for both days.
Gurmeet Singh urged youth to stay fit and add cycling to their daily routine. He pointed out that good health is the best defense against harmful habits.
Flawless Traffic Management
For the safety and smooth flow of the Cyclothon, the police department ensured tight traffic control. DSP Sushil Prakash even rode alongside the cyclists. DSP Birbhan and other officers were stationed at various points to manage the crowd and maintain order.

A Community Effort
The event wasn’t just about government and police. It was a true collaboration involving leaders, officers, and local residents. Among those present were Suresh Sandhu, Bhimsen Aggarwal, Praveen Prajapati, Nidhi Mohan, Shakti Souda, Akshara Gupta, and Surendra Garg Bittu.
From the administration side, officers like EO Vakil Ahmed from HSVP, District Social Welfare Officer Sudesh Kumar, and many others contributed to the success of the event. Village heads from Chandana, Kailram, and Shimla also welcomed the Cyclothon with pride.
Toward a New Haryana
Speaking at the event, ADC Deepak Babulal Karwa said that this state-wide Cyclothon is more than just a bike ride — it’s a powerful message. It asks every citizen to join hands for a drug-free Haryana. This campaign, ending in Sirsa, is meant to spark deep change and create a better tomorrow.

This Cyclothon isn’t just a ride — it’s a movement. With every village it passes, it leaves behind hope, strength, and a message: Together, we can end drug abuse. With support from all corners of society, this campaign is not just moving forward — it’s gaining momentum.
