Digital Learning at Your Fingertips: DAV College Cheeka Spreads Awareness

In a significant step toward digital education, DAV College Cheeka recently held a one-day workshop on Digital Library: Awareness and Use. The program was organized by the collegeโ€™s library department in collaboration with the National Digital Library of India (NDLI).

The event aimed to educate students and teachers about the effective use of digital library resources. In todayโ€™s time, digital knowledge is not optional. It is a necessary part of learning and research.

Focus of the Program

Dr. Suman Yadav, the keynote speaker and convener, led the session. She shared valuable insights on how digital libraries have changed the way we learn. According to her, libraries are no longer limited to just books.

Today, they are knowledge hubs that offer information across many fields and languages. These platforms support learning, research, and practical experiments.

Why Digital Libraries Matter

Dr. Yadav explained that students can access thousands of learning materials online. These include books, research papers, and courses. She also gave a detailed explanation of how to become a member of NDLI.

This process is simple and open to all. Once a member, anyone can explore a wide range of topics and subjects. Whether itโ€™s science, literature, technology, or arts โ€“ itโ€™s all available online.

Feedback from Participants

Many students and teachers attended the session. They appreciated the hands-on training they received. Participants said they now feel more confident using digital resources.

Some mentioned they had no idea so much material was available online for free. With the help of NDLI, they can now study more efficiently, anytime and anywhere.

Principalโ€™s Vision

Dr. Jasbir Singh, the college principal, also addressed the gathering. He stressed how digital libraries can improve studentsโ€™ academic life.

He encouraged everyone to make full use of such resources. According to him, being digitally literate is not only helpful but essential in todayโ€™s fast-changing world.

He thanked the NDLI and library staff for making this event a success.

Hands-On Training and Support

Faculty members like Dr. Virendra Pal, Prof. Neeraj Singh, and Prof. Neelam also attended. They received training along with the students. They expressed their interest in using digital libraries more in teaching.

These platforms can help teachers prepare better lessons and offer additional materials for students.

Building a Digital Culture

Workshops like these are a step toward building a digital culture in education. Many rural and semi-urban colleges still depend heavily on traditional methods.

By introducing students to online platforms, colleges can bridge the digital divide. Programs like NDLI offer equal learning opportunities to everyone.

They break the barrier of cost, language, and location. You donโ€™t need expensive books or even a full-time classroom. With an internet connection, learning becomes borderless.

What is the National Digital Library of India (NDLI)?

NDLI is a project by the Ministry of Education, Government of India. It provides free access to learning resources from around the world.

The portal includes content from schools, colleges, universities, and research organizations. Its goal is to make education accessible to all.

Anyone with a valid email ID can sign up and start learning. The platform supports multiple languages and education levels.

Future of Learning

Events like these show how education is shifting toward digital platforms. Students are no longer bound by library hours or book availability. They can access updated, relevant material in just a few clicks.

Teachers, too, can explore new teaching methods and topics. This flexibility benefits both sides of the learning process.

With technology growing fast, digital libraries are the future. And institutions like DAV College are preparing their students for it.

Conclusion

The workshop at DAV College Cheeka is a powerful reminder of the role digital platforms can play in education. It was not just a session; it was a doorway to future learning.

With the support of NDLI, students and teachers now have access to a vast pool of knowledge. The digital age of education is here, and initiatives like this are leading the way.
