Kaithal, March – The CIA-1 police have arrested a driver who falsely reported a robbery to misappropriate ₹1.09 lakh. According to the police spokesperson, Mahabir Singh, a resident of Dhanouri village, filed a complaint stating that his village-based oilcake mill had a pickup truck rented for transportation. The truck had been driven by Dharmbir for the past six months, delivering oilcake to different districts.

On March 27, Dharmbir loaded the truck with oilcake and transported it to Ambala. While returning, he was carrying ₹1.09 lakh belonging to the mill. Around noon, he called the mill manager, Deepak, and reported that two unidentified men stopped his vehicle near the Kaithal Water Park, threw chili powder in his eyes, and snatched the cash. However, investigations later revealed that the driver had fabricated the story to keep the money for himself.

Following SP Rajesh Kalia’s orders, a team led by CIA-1 in-charge SI Paras and ASI Sanjay Kumar arrested Dharmbir, a resident of Dhanouri village. During interrogation, the accused confessed to staging the fake robbery to embezzle the money. The entire sum of ₹1.09 lakh was recovered from his possession. On Saturday, the court remanded him to judicial custody.
