Drug Free India Journey Reaches Kaithal
Kaithal, October 13:
Continuing Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of a Drug Free India, Shekhar Rao and his wife Neha from Andaman and Nicobar Islands arrived in Kaithal on Monday as part of their nationwide awareness journey. The couple was warmly welcomed at Government Senior Secondary School, Committee Chowk, where a special program was organized to inspire students to take a stand against drug abuse.
Meeting with DC Preeti: Discussing the Anti-Drug Mission
During their visit, Shekhar Rao and Neha met Deputy Commissioner (DC) Preeti for an in-depth discussion on the Drug-Free India Campaign. DC Preeti praised their efforts, noting that as individual citizens, their initiative is both inspiring and commendable. She presented them with a memento in recognition of their remarkable work and encouraged others to draw inspiration from their journey.
Journey from Andaman to North India
Shekhar Rao shared that the journey began on June 26 from Andaman and Nicobar Islands. Since then, the couple has covered several states, including Chennai, Karnataka, Goa, Kerala, Maharashtra, Gujarat, Rajasthan, Agra, and Delhi. Their upcoming route includes Punjab, Jammu & Kashmir, Kargil, Kullu-Manali, Leh-Ladakh, and the seven northeastern states, concluding in Andhra Pradesh.
Through their journey, they are not only spreading awareness about drug prevention but also promoting Andaman’s rich tourism potential. Rao explained that witnessing a drug seizure in Andaman first inspired him to take this nationwide initiative to fight against substance abuse.

Message to the Youth: Stay Away from Drugs
Addressing the students, Rao emphasized that drug addiction is not just a personal issue but a social poison that weakens both individuals and the nation. He said that youth power is the foundation of the country, and it must be harnessed to eliminate this evil.
He encouraged students to focus on sports, defense services, and education, urging them to become responsible citizens contributing positively to society.
Police and Administration Support the Initiative
DSP Sushil Prakash also addressed the gathering, stressing that the government and district administration are committed to making Haryana and India drug-free. He urged young people to remain vigilant and report any suspicious drug activity to the authorities, ensuring strong action against offenders.

CPR Training and Awareness Drive
As part of the program, the Red Cross Society conducted a CPR training session for students, promoting health and emergency awareness. The event was attended by District Information and Public Relations Officer Naseeb Saini, District Welfare Officer Seema, Principal Ravindra Sharma, Inspector Surender, Dr. Birbal Dalal, and teams from both the Health and Police Departments.
