Employees’ Union Protests Against Executive Engineer in Guhla

Protest Continues for Fifth Day

Guhla Cheeka: The All Haryana Power Corporation Union, affiliated with the Sarv Karamchari Sangh Haryana, continued its protest for the fifth consecutive day against the Executive Engineer of Guhla. The gate meeting was organized at the division level, presided over by Unit President Sandeep Saini, while Unit Secretary Rakesh Kumar conducted the stage. State leaders including State Secretary Baljinder Sida, State Vice President Swaraj Singh, and State Secretary Abhishek Sharma were also present.

Employees’ Main Demands

Addressing the employees, Unit President Sandeep Saini said that despite repeated written and verbal requests, the Executive Engineer has failed to resolve employees’ problems. The Union was left with no option but to launch this agitation. The main demands raised include:

  1. Dual duty burden: Pritam Kumar (CA) from Siwan sub-division has been forced to take duty at Guhla sub-division as well, hampering work and troubling power consumers.
  2. Charge reassignment: Chandan Das (ASSA) from Siwan had his sub-station charge withdrawn and handed over to a lineman, which employees term unfair.
  3. Unsafe building: The 33 KV Cheeka building is in a dilapidated condition. During rains, waterlogging forces supply cuts, risking major accidents since it feeds city and industrial lines.
  4. Leave objections: The Executive Engineer repeatedly objects to employees’ constitutional holidays, creating resentment.
  5. Lack of facilities: No clean drinking water or toilet facilities at the 33 KV Cheeka station, causing hardships.
  6. No tool kits: Employees have not received tool kits for a long time.
  7. Salary delays: Wages of contractual workers are delayed every month, causing financial stress.

Warning of Escalation

Union leaders warned that if these issues are not resolved soon, the protest will escalate into a full-scale sit-in demonstration. They emphasized that the safety of employees and consumers is at stake if the administration continues to ignore these demands.

Presence of Union Leaders and Employees

The protest saw the participation of several local union leaders, including Cheeka Sub-Unit Secretary Anuj Paras, Siwan Sub-Unit Secretary Joginder Singh, Guhla Sub-Unit Secretary Virender Singh, along with Minde Foreman, Subhash Foreman, Jasveer Singh, Shyamlal, Sachin Sharma, Pradeep Moga, Sandeep Garg, Naresh, Rajiv, Chand Ram, Shamsher Singh, Nanu Ram, Sohan Lal, Jaspal, Satish Kumar, Jodh Singh, and many other employees.
