Independence Day Marked with Patriotism and Tribute
Cheeka, August 15 – “It is because of our brave soldiers that we breathe in free air,” said SDM Capt. Parmesh Singh during the 79th Independence Day celebration at Cheeka Anaj Mandi. He described the tricolor as a living symbol of India’s history, struggle, and dreams, noting the nation’s unity in patriotic spirit.
Earlier, he paid tribute at the Shaheed Smarak and Shaheed Udham Singh’s statue, then hoisted the national flag and took the parade salute.

Recalling Pahalgam Attack and Operation Sindoor
SDM Singh condemned the April 22, 2025, terrorist attack in Pahalgam that killed innocent civilians and targeted the nation’s soul. He praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s zero-tolerance policy on terrorism and detailed the May 7 “Operation Sindoor,” in which Indian forces destroyed nine terrorist bases inside Pakistan.
He also highlighted “Operation Mahadev,” which eliminated those responsible for the Pahalgam attack, calling it not just revenge but a clear message that India will act firmly against terror.
Government Support for Martyrs’ Families
Singh said the government prioritizes respect and welfare for martyrs’ families, providing jobs to one dependent of each fallen soldier. He noted Haryana’s leadership in agriculture and bravery, along with schemes like PM-Kisan, Ujjwala Yojana, Ayushman Bharat, PM Awas Yojana, PM Suryaghar, and PM Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana, which have improved living standards.
Development and Social Welfare Initiatives
Key programs include 24-hour electricity in villages under “Mhara Gaon Jagmag Gaon,” clean tap water for every home, free bus travel for poor families, financial aid for laborers, and farmer bonuses and compensation. The state has introduced drug de-addiction drives, grassroots sports facilities, and women’s empowerment schemes like “Lado Sakhi” and “Happy Yojana,” offering free travel up to 1,000 km annually.
Environmental and Infrastructure Projects
The government has launched solid waste management projects, created 2,088 Amrit Sarovars for groundwater recharge, and invested nearly ₹1,000 crore in the upcoming Bhagwan Parshuram Medical College in Kaithal. Three national highways now boost the district’s development, along with institutions like Maharshi Valmiki Sanskrit University.


Cultural Programs and Honors
The event featured patriotic dances, songs, giddha, and bhangra by various schools, including Government Girls Senior Secondary School, AV Vidya Mandir, and Kohinoor International Academy.
In the parade, contingents from Haryana Police, local colleges, and schools displayed disciplined performances.
Outstanding individuals from police, health, education, sports, municipal, and other departments, along with social organizations, were honored for exemplary service. Saplings were distributed by the Forest Department to promote environmental awareness.
