SDM Pramesh Singh Resolves Farmers’ Issues in Flood-Affected Areas

Guhla-Cheeka, September 5 – In light of the rising water levels of the Ghaggar river, Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Captain Pramesh Singh is conducting continuous inspections to monitor the situation and ensure relief measures.
On Friday, SDM Singh visited several villages including Bhagal, Bhunsla, Rattakhera Kadam, Sihali, Paprala, Mohanpur, Maingra, Baupur, Kamhedi, Khambheda, Sarola, Rattakhera Lukman, and Bubakpur. During his visits, he listened to farmers’ grievances and directed officials to implement necessary arrangements. Essential services like water, electricity, and healthcare are being provided to the affected villagers.
Ghaggar Water Level Stable
The SDM confirmed that the Ghaggar water level currently stands at 23.4 feet. Although water has entered the fields of some villages, the overall situation remains under control. Under the guidance of Deputy Commissioner Preeti, continuous monitoring is being carried out across flood-prone areas. Village secretaries and patwaris are reporting ground-level updates to the local and district administration. Senior officials from various departments are also visiting villages to ensure that residents’ issues are addressed on priority.

Immediate Relief Measures for Farmers
Responding to farmers’ demands, the Irrigation Department is supplying sandbags to strengthen embankments. At Sarola siphon, silt and water hyacinth are being cleared. JCBs, poclains, and other heavy machinery have been stationed across villages round the clock to handle emergencies.
SDM Singh noted that water has reached fields in certain areas. Due to low road levels, water is flowing over roads between Rattakhera Kadam and Mohanpur, along with a few others. However, no water has entered residential areas.
Round-the-Clock Vigilance
Block Development and Panchayat Officers are maintaining regular contact with sarpanches. Villagers are conducting night patrols for added vigilance. The local administration has been advising residents to stay away from the Ghaggar riverbanks.
The Animal Husbandry Department has deployed teams in affected villages and is conducting awareness camps to guide farmers on livestock safety. Adequate stock of medicines has been ensured. Two mobile vans are actively serving these regions, while the Health Department is running OPDs to check villagers and provide free medicines.
The Police Department has deployed forces at sensitive locations as a precautionary measure. The Public Health Department is ensuring uninterrupted drinking water supply, while the Power Department has been tasked with maintaining electricity without disruption.
Officials Present
Tehsildar Ravindra Hooda, Kanungo Praveen Kumar, and several other officials accompanied the SDM during the inspection.
