Ghaggar River Water Level Rises: SDM Ajay Hudda Inspects Gujhla Area

Authorities Directed to Remain Alert, Situation Under Control

Guhla-Cheka, August 30, 2025
Following heavy rainfall in the hilly areas, the Ghaggar River has witnessed a rise in water levels. SDM Ajay Hudda, under the instructions of DC Preeti, visited the Guhla region to assess the situation. Currently, the situation in the area is under control.

Inspection and Assessment

SDM Ajay Hudda conducted inspections of several critical locations including Ghaggar Tatiana Gauge, Sarola Siphon, Ratta Khera Lukman Bandh, and Bhatia Ghaggar Bandh. He directed the concerned department officials to be fully prepared for any flood-related emergencies.

At the Ghaggar Tatiana Gauge, the river was flowing at 26,000 cusecs, with water level at 16 feet, below the danger mark of 23 feet. The Irrigation Department is maintaining strict monitoring. At Sarola Siphon, embankments are being reinforced by staff, while at Ratta Khera Lukman Bandh, a Poclain machine has been deployed for emergency flood management. The inspection also included Bhatia Ghaggar Bandh.

Alert for Villagers

Around 32 villages have been alerted about the rising water levels. Village secretaries have also been assigned duties to assist residents. SDM Ajay Hudda emphasized that the district administration is fully prepared to tackle any potential flood situation and assured that villagers will not face any difficulty. Departments are actively addressing any shortcomings and ensuring preventive measures are implemented.

Directives to Departments

SDM Hudda instructed all concerned departments to:

  • Maintain full readiness to manage any flood situation.
  • Complete all flood management tasks within scheduled timelines.
  • Speed up drainage cleaning to ensure smooth water flow.
  • Avoid any negligence in flood management operations.

Officials present during the inspection included Naib Tehsildar Bansi Lal, Executive Engineer Gurvinder Singh Dayol, SDO Ajmer Singh, Kanungo Praveen Kumar, Bhawant, Jeet Ram, Ajaydeep, and Manjit.

District Administration Preparedness

DC Preeti stated that the situation in Guhla is currently under control. The district administration is fully prepared for any flood scenario. Officers and staff have been instructed to remain on 24-hour alert and report any waterlogging in villages immediately. No negligence will be tolerated in flood management operations.
