Kaithal Police Anti-Narcotics Cell Arrests Drug Peddler with 559 Grams of Opium

Kaithal, February 21 – While Kaithal district police continue their public awareness campaigns against drug abuse under the directions of Superintendent of Police Upasna, strict action is simultaneously being taken against drug traffickers. In a significant operation, the Anti-Narcotics Cell apprehended a suspected drug peddler from the Rajound area and recovered 559 grams of opium from his possession.

Secret Information Leads to Swift Action

According to the police spokesperson, a team of the Anti-Narcotics Cell led by SI Rajkumar, along with SI Balraj Singh, was on evening patrol duty near the Bus Stand in Rajound when they received a confidential tip-off.

The informer disclosed that Harpal Singh alias Kala, a resident of Kithana Road, Rajound, had been involved in consuming and selling opium for a considerable period. The information further suggested that a raid at his residence could lead to immediate recovery of the contraband.

Considering the input credible, the police team acted without delay.

Raid Conducted at Accused’s Residence

Demonstrating promptness and coordination, the police team conducted a raid at the suspect’s house on Kithana Road. The accused, Harpal Singh, was apprehended at the spot.

To ensure transparency in the search process, Tehsildar Ajay Kumar of Kalayat was called to the scene. In his presence, the police carried out a formal search of the premises.

During the search, officials recovered 559 grams of opium concealed in a polythene bag from the possession of the accused.

Case Registered Under NDPS Act

Following the recovery, a case was registered at Rajound Police Station under relevant sections of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. The accused was formally arrested by ASI Jagbhan Singh, who reached the spot for further legal proceedings.

Police officials stated that the accused will be produced before the court on Saturday, and further interrogation is underway to trace potential supply links and buyers connected to the network.

Police Crackdown Continues

Kaithal Police reiterated their firm commitment to eliminating drug trafficking from the district. Under SP Upasna’s leadership, dual strategies are being implemented — spreading awareness among youth and taking strict legal action against those involved in narcotics trade.

Officials emphasized that drug abuse not only destroys individual lives but also impacts families and society at large. Therefore, coordinated efforts are being made at all levels to curb the menace.

Public Cooperation Urged

The police have appealed to citizens to share credible information regarding drug activities in their areas. Identity of informers is kept confidential, and timely information can significantly help in dismantling illegal supply chains.
