Medical Store Owners Urged to Help Eradicate Drug Abuse: SDM Capt. Parmesh Singh
Cheeka, September 11:
SDM Capt. Parmesh Singh has appealed to medical store owners to fully cooperate with the district administration and police in the mission to eradicate drug abuse from society. He emphasized that medical stores must not sell intoxicating medicines without a valid prescription from a registered doctor. Along with this, every medical store should maintain an NRX register and install CCTV cameras to ensure proper monitoring.
Speaking at a meeting of the Cheeka Medical Association held at Girnar Sweets Hall on Thursday, Capt. Singh said that if any suspicious person is noticed, immediate information should be shared with the administration. Strict action will be taken against those who promote or support the illegal drug trade. He highlighted that the administration, with support from local authorities, is continuously conducting seminars, awareness programs, and camps in both rural and urban areas, including schools, colleges, and institutions, to spread awareness against drug abuse.
He further added that drug addiction has become a serious threat to today’s youth. Addiction not only harms physical health but also disturbs mental balance, family life, and social relationships. Once a person falls into the trap of addiction, it becomes extremely difficult for them to come out of it.
DSP Kuldeep Beniwal also addressed the gathering and urged chemists to remain alert while selling medicines. He stressed that if a customer seems suspicious, immediate information should be provided to the police. “We must work together to root out drugs from this region. Chemists should also join the anti-drug awareness campaign to educate people,” he said.
Supporting the administration’s appeal, Rajesh Kumar, President of the Chemist Association, assured full cooperation. He said that all chemist shop owners stand firmly with the administration and police in the fight against drugs. “Together, we will fight this menace and ensure that our society, especially our youth, is protected from the harmful effects of addiction,” he added.
Other prominent members present at the meeting included Suraj Taneja, Surender Bansal, Shiv Narayan Gupta, and Rajkumar.
