National Lok Adalat on September 13 in Patiala

Organized Under NALSA and PULSA Guidelines

As per the directions of the National Legal Services Authority (NALSA), New Delhi, and Punjab State Legal Services Authority (PULSA), Mohali, a National Lok Adalat will be organized on Saturday, September 13, 2025 across the Patiala district. The event will be held under the guidance of Additional District & Sessions Judge-cum-Chairperson, District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), Patiala, Ms. Harinder Sidhu.

Cases to Be Taken Up

The Lok Adalat will focus on resolving cases through mutual settlement, including:

  • Cheque bounce and money recovery cases
  • Labor and employment disputes
  • Payment of electricity, water, and other utility bills (except non-compoundable cases)
  • Maintenance cases
  • Civil disputes and tribunal matters pending in courts
  • Motor Accident Claim Tribunal (MACT) cases
  • Matrimonial disputes (except divorce cases)
  • Land acquisition matters
  • Salary, allowances, and retirement benefits disputes

Benches will be constituted at Patiala, Rajpura, Samana, and Nabha courts for smooth proceedings.

Purpose of Lok Adalat

According to CJM/Secretary, DLSA Patiala, Ms. Amandeep Kamboj, the prime objective of Lok Adalats is to resolve disputes amicably, saving both time and money of litigants, while reducing personal enmity. Even pre-litigation cases can be brought before the Lok Adalat for quick resolution.

Benefits for Litigants

  • The decision/award of the Lok Adalat is final and binding.
  • No appeal lies against the decision.
  • Any court fee already paid is refunded.
  • Settlements are based on mutual agreement, ensuring a win-win situation for both parties.

Public Appeal

Citizens are urged to bring their disputes to the upcoming Lok Adalat for a fast, cost-effective, and amicable settlement. Litigants can request the presiding officer of the concerned court or approach the Secretary, DLSA Patiala, for pre-litigation cases.
