First Aid Awareness Drive at Badsui School
Cheeka — In a crucial first aid awareness program, 587 students and staff members of Sardar Pritam Singh Memorial School, Badsui, received one-day CPR and first aid training under the guidance of Professor Raja Singh Jhinjar, Master Trainer and Gold Medalist from St. John Ambulance International Association India.
The Danger of Giving Water to the Unconscious
Addressing the gathering, Raja Jhinjar warned that attempting to feed or give water to an unconscious person during an accident or natural disaster could prove fatal. He stressed that a first responder’s timely and correct action can save lives, while ignorance can lead to further harm.
Rising Need for Trained First Aiders
Jhinjar pointed out that unhealthy lifestyle habits and poor health practices have increased incidents of heart attacks and road accidents. In such situations, the presence of a trained first aider becomes critical.
Nationwide First Aid Mission
Under the National Paramount Mission led by Dr. Rajpal Poonia, National Director of St. John Ambulance International Association India, a campaign is underway to provide free first aid and CPR training to every child and citizen in the district.
So far, 200 common citizens, 1,785 school students, 55 teachers, and 17 school bus drivers have been trained.

Practical Demonstrations on Human Dummy
The training covered causes, recognition, and treatment methods for conditions such as dizziness, electric shock, internal and external bleeding, bone fractures, shock, unconsciousness, nosebleeds, poisonous bites, and wounds.
Participants, including school staff and bus drivers, practiced CPR techniques on a human dummy, making it a key highlight of the program.
Call for Annual CPR Training in Schools
School in-charge Gurvinder Singh and Rajvinder Kaur appreciated the initiative, noting that even educated people often lack first aid knowledge. They suggested making CPR training mandatory every year for all school members.

Participants’ Realizations
School bus drivers Ram Kumar and Krishan Kumar expressed their surprise at learning how dangerous it is to give water to an unconscious person.
The session was attended by staff members including Baljinder Singh, Veena Devi, Sheela Devi, Kamalpreet Kaur, Komal, Rubal Preet Kaur, Rimpy, Rinku, Rajvinder Singh, Savita, Amandeep, Ruchi, Seema, Prabha, Gagan, Dalbir, Rajesh, and Seema Devi among others.
