Poetry Contest Dedicated to Poet Shiv Kumar Batalvi

Pathankot, September 16
Following the directions of Punjab School Education Minister Harjot Singh Bains, a district-level poetry competition was organized at DIET Lamini in honor of renowned Punjabi poet Shiv Kumar Batalvi on his birth anniversary. The event was conducted under the leadership of District Education Officer (Elementary) Mrs. Kamaldeep Kaur and Deputy District Education Officer (Elementary) Mr. DG Singh. Students from various blocks of the district enthusiastically participated in the contest themed “The Beauty and Charm of Nature.”


Students of Daulatpur Khurd Shine in Competition

Students of Government Primary School, Daulatpur Khurd showcased their poetic skills and secured all three top positions.

  • Raunak (Class 4) – First Prize
  • Krishna Kaur (Class 5) – Second Prize
  • Riya (Class 5) – Third Prize

Their achievement brought pride to their school and families.


Winners to Compete at State Level

Addressing the gathering, Deputy DEO Mr. DG Singh explained that the competition was held as per School Education Department guidelines. He praised the confidence and talent of young students, noting that being selected to perform at the district level was a big achievement in itself.

The winners from this event will represent Pathankot in the state-level competition, where the top three prizes include:

  • ₹51,000 for First Place
  • ₹31,000 for Second Place
  • ₹21,000 for Third Place

Encouragement from Education Leaders

DIET Principal Mr. Harinder Saini, present at the event, commended the outstanding performance of government school students in various fields. He highlighted that many alumni of government schools now serve as doctors, engineers, teachers, lawyers, judges, and in other important roles, making the state proud.

The winners were honored with awards by Deputy DEO Mr. DG Singh.


Notable Guests Present

The event was also attended by BRC officers Bisambar Das, Adhir Mahajan, Yogesh Kumar, and Balkar Attri, along with other education officials.
