Punjab Governor Visits Flood-Affected Areas in Pathankot, Inspects Ravi River Situation

Assures full support from Central and State Governments, praises joint efforts by Punjab Government, Police, Civil Administration, and Army during floods

Pathankot, September 4, 2025 – Punjab Governor Shri Gulab Chand Kataria today visited flood-affected regions of Pathankot district to review the ground situation. He inspected the rising water levels of the Ravi River at Kathlore Bridge and also reviewed the Madhopur Headworks.

Speaking to the media at Bamiyal Block on the Ravi Bridge, the Governor said that both the Punjab Government and the Central Government are fully committed to providing relief and rehabilitation to all affected families.

Praise for Relief Operations

Governor Kataria lauded the coordinated efforts of the Punjab Government, district administration, police, and the Indian Army in tackling the flood situation. He particularly appreciated the Army’s use of drones to monitor the Ravi River continuously, ensuring timely action in case of emergencies.

He emphasized that relief and rehabilitation measures are being carried out on priority and assured that compensation will be provided to all affected families after a detailed assessment of the damages.

Support from Central and State Governments

Governor Kataria shared that he had briefed Union Home Minister Shri Amit Shah about the flood situation. He also mentioned that Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi personally spoke with Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann to gather updates and assured full support from the Central Government.

He further informed that Union Agriculture and Rural Development Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan will visit Punjab’s flood-hit areas tomorrow to assess the situation.

Unity in Crisis

The Governor praised the people of Punjab for showing solidarity during this crisis, calling it an example of unity and resilience. He stressed that with collective efforts, the state will overcome this natural calamity.

Review Meeting at District Headquarters

After touring the affected regions, Governor Kataria held a review meeting at the District Administrative Complex, Malikpur, with district officials, Army officers, and representatives from various departments. The meeting assessed the ongoing relief operations and preparedness for further contingencies.
