Two Men in Thar Kidnap Rice Mill Accountant in Broad Daylight

Accountant taken to Punjab, cheque snatched, and forced out of the vehicle

Cheeka, September 10:
In a shocking incident, two men riding in a Punjab-registered Thar abducted the accountant of a rice mill in Cheeka in broad daylight. The kidnappers took him across the Punjab border to the village of Ram Nagar, where they forcibly snatched a cheque worth ₹3.5 lakh from him before abandoning him on the roadside.

According to the written complaint lodged at Cheeka police station, Surender Singh, an accountant at Jindal Overseas Rice Mill on Khushhal Majra Road, stated that Arun and Hardeep Singh of Dhuri city (Punjab) had purchased rice worth ₹3.5 lakh on August 8. They had issued a cheque as payment, which was due on August 30. However, when the cheque was presented to the bank, it bounced due to insufficient funds.

When the mill owner, Shishpal Jindal, demanded payment, the accused initially called Surender to Samana (Punjab) on September 9, promising to return the money. But instead of paying, they pressured him to hand back the bounced cheque. On September 10, the duo again summoned Surender to Samana, but when he refused, they came directly to his workplace in a Thar. Pretending to discuss the matter, they lured him outside and forcefully pushed him into their vehicle.

Surender alleged that he was taken to Ram Nagar, where the kidnappers handed him ₹3.5 lakh in cash and forcibly took the cheque from him before tearing it up. They also recorded a video of the cash and cheque exchange on their mobile phones. Moments later, they snatched back the cash, abandoned him on the roadside, and fled. During the scuffle, one of the accused even left a shoe at the spot, which Surender later handed over to the police.

The daylight kidnapping has spread panic among local traders and businessmen, raising concerns about safety and law enforcement in the area. Surender has demanded strict action against the culprits.

Police Version

Cheeka Police Station in-charge, Aman Kumar, confirmed the receipt of the complaint.

“A written complaint has been filed by Jindal Overseas Rice Mill’s accountant, Surender Singh, alleging kidnapping and cheque snatching. The matter is under investigation. If the allegations are found true, strict action will be taken against the accused,” said Aman Kumar.
