Kaithal (Guhla-Cheeka), May 23:
Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Captain Parmesh Singh has called on the public to treat road safety as a shared responsibility, urging everyone to strictly follow traffic rules to prevent avoidable tragedies.
Speaking at a public awareness initiative, SDM Singh emphasized that even minor negligence on the road can lead to fatal accidents. “Every citizen has a duty to follow traffic regulations,” he said, adding that school and college-based awareness drives are being held regularly to educate youth on this important issue.
Key Safety Guidelines from the SDM
SDM Singh outlined essential precautions that every commuter should follow:
- Always obey traffic signals
- Avoid over-speeding
- Use zebra crossings properly
- Two-wheeler riders must wear helmets
- Never drive under the influence of alcohol
- Do not use mobile phones while driving
- Always wear seatbelts
- Pay attention to and follow road signs
- Take speed limits seriously
He also urged parents to ensure minors do not drive vehicles, noting that underage driving is a major cause of road accidents.
Enforcement and Monitoring
Highlighting the government’s commitment, SDM Singh stated that Kaithal’s District Road Safety Committee, under the leadership of DC Preeti, regularly conducts meetings and issues guidelines to all departments to enhance road safety measures.
The SDM also directed school operators to adhere to all norms under the Safe School Vehicle Policy, ensuring that school transport meets all safety standards.
Call for Responsible Citizenship
“Road safety is not just the responsibility of the traffic police,” Captain Parmesh Singh concluded. “It begins with each one of us. Together, we can prevent accidents and save lives.”
