Road Safety Is Everyone’s Responsibility

In a firm message, Kaithal’s Deputy Commissioner (DC) Preeti emphasized the urgent need for strict enforcement of road safety rules. She made it clear: all officers must make every possible effort to curb accidents.

Public response has been largely positive, with citizens showing appreciation for the strong measures outlined.

Road Safety Committee Meeting: Key Directives

On Monday, DC Preeti chaired a crucial meeting of the District Road Safety Committee at the Mini Secretariat.

During the session, she issued necessary directions to ensure all rules are followed diligently. The focus was on prevention rather than cure, aiming to save lives and prevent tragedies.

Special Focus: Unsafe School Buses to Be Impounded

DC Preeti ordered that any school buses violating the Safe School Vehicle Policy must be seized without delay.

She stressed that no negligence will be tolerated when it comes to children’s safety.

To ensure quick action:

  • District Education Officers must inspect school buses.
  • Violations must be addressed within one week.
  • RTA officials must monitor compliance strictly.

Public sentiment strongly supports this directive, given rising concerns over school transport safety.

Awareness Campaigns and Traffic Enforcement

The DC directed officials to launch special campaigns to:

  • Educate students and the public on road safety rules
  • Set up checkpoints outside colleges
  • Issue challans to traffic violators

She emphasized that law enforcement must be visible and effective, especially in sensitive areas where students frequently move.

These steps aim to instill a sense of responsibility among road users.

Road Repairs and Infrastructure Improvement

Highlighting the importance of road conditions, DC Preeti directed Public Works Department (PWD) officials to:

  • Immediately repair damaged roads
  • Ensure the use of quality materials
  • Clear branches obstructing roadways

She instructed Forest Department officers to ensure proper trimming of overgrown trees along roads.

Such infrastructural improvements are vital to reducing accident risks and have been widely welcomed by the community.

Holding Officials Accountable

DC Preeti warned that any negligence by officers will not be tolerated.

She instructed the RTA to:

  • Issue notices to negligent officers
  • Ensure strict compliance with assigned duties
  • Submit regular progress reports

These measures are aimed at building a culture of accountability across all departments.

Police Department Gets Clear Orders

The police department was given strict instructions to:

  • Take action against illegal and wrong-side parking
  • Increase traffic challaning for rule violations
  • Crackdown on overloaded vehicles

SPs and DSPs were told to regularly review traffic management strategies.

Better enforcement is expected to deter reckless driving and save precious lives.

Latest Statistics on Traffic Violations

RTA Officer Girish Kumar presented data during the meeting:

  • Police issued 3169 challans in March alone
  • Total fines amounted to ₹25.89 lakh
  • RTA issued 103 challans
  • Fines collected by RTA totaled ₹33.78 lakh

These figures underline the seriousness of the current drive and the need for even more stringent enforcement.

Collaboration Across Departments

The DC underlined the importance of inter-departmental coordination. All departments must work in harmony to ensure road safety remains a top priority.

Departments were told to share information, conduct joint drives, and promptly report progress to the Deputy Commissioner’s Office.

Conclusion: A Collective Effort for Safer Roads

DC Preeti’s strong directives mark a major step toward making Kaithal’s roads safer.

Public sentiment supports strict enforcement. Citizens agree that ensuring road safety is not just the government’s job but a shared responsibility.

With firm action, better awareness, and community cooperation, Kaithal is poised to set a new benchmark in road safety management.
