DC Issues Directives in District Task Force Meeting
Kaithal, March 24: District Commissioner (DC) Preeti has directed officials to take strict action to prevent the development of illegal colonies in the district. She instructed that if any construction is being carried out in such colonies, demolition should be undertaken, and legal cases should be registered with the police as per regulations. Additionally, in areas outside the controlled zones, concerned SDMs should coordinate with municipal authorities to prevent the expansion of unauthorized colonies. Any negligence in this matter will result in accountability for the responsible officials. These illegal activities hinder the planned development of the district. All relevant departments must work in coordination. If any official faces difficulties related to regulations from other departments, they should discuss the matter to find a solution in the public interest.
On Monday, DC Preeti issued these instructions during a meeting of the District Task Force held at the Mini Secretariat. She also urged the general public to avoid purchasing land solely based on full-payment agreements. While buying plots, people should verify all necessary details about the colony. Additionally, if any property dealer claims that a colony is legally approved, their license should be checked. Buyers must conduct a thorough investigation before purchasing a plot or land, as acquiring property in an illegal colony may result in facing demolition actions.
Strict Monitoring and Enforcement
DC Preeti sought an update from the District Town Planner (DTP) regarding actions taken against illegal colonies. The DTP provided details about the demolition drives conducted in the past month and the legal cases registered with the police. The DC also inquired from police officials about the progress of cases filed based on DTP complaints. She instructed that as soon as a complaint is received from the DTP office, an FIR should be registered immediately, and further action should be taken.
She emphasized that illegal colonies create multiple problems, including a lack of basic facilities, and lead to revenue losses for the government. The District Planning Department was directed to conduct awareness camps to educate the public about the risks of purchasing property in unauthorized colonies. Since registries are not allowed in these colonies, many people rely on full-payment agreements, which is not legally sound.
Instructions for SDMs and Revenue Officials
DC Preeti instructed all SDMs and Tehsildars to closely monitor property registrations in their respective areas. If a sudden spike in registrations is observed in a specific location, the cause should be investigated to ensure that it is not linked to an illegal colony. SDMs were also asked to collect information on land parcels left undeveloped within legally approved colonies. She directed all SDMs to hold meetings in their respective regions to address this issue.
Additionally, DC Preeti issued show-cause notices to officials from the Public Health Department, the Electricity Department’s Executive Engineer, and NHAI officials for their absence in the meeting.
Present at the meeting were Kaithal SDM Ajay Singh, Kalayat SDM Ajay Hooda, Guhla SDM Pramesh Singh, Executive Engineer of the Public Works Department Varun Kansal, and other officials from relevant departments.
