Kaithal, March 20 – The Special Detective Unit has achieved significant success in the case of a firing incident at a shop in Pundri for ransom. Under the leadership of SI Ramesh Kumar and ASI Mohan Lal’s team, three wanted accused—Naveen from Pai village, Sahil, and Deepak alias Tony from Bahadurgarh, Jhajjar—have been arrested.

Superintendent of Police Rajesh Kalia stated that on February 26, unidentified youths on a motorcycle fired shots at a sweet shop owner in Pundri in an attempt to extort money. A case was registered at the Pundri police station. During the investigation, on the night of March 13, the Special Detective Unit received information that a wanted accused, Anoop alias Ashish alias Faizal, a resident of Chhudani village in Jhajjar district, was hiding in the Rajound area.

When police teams attempted to apprehend him and gave him a chance to surrender, Anoop fired at them. In retaliation, the police fired back, resulting in his death. Another wanted accused, Akshit from Jagadhri, was also arrested and taken into police custody for interrogation.

Further investigation revealed that accused Naveen was directly involved in the firing incident. Sahil was responsible for conducting reconnaissance before the crimes, while Deepak supplied weapons, facilitated the accused’s escape, and provided other forms of assistance.

All the accused were presented in court on Thursday. As per court orders, Akshit was sent to judicial custody, while the remaining three accused were remanded to police custody for five days.
