Kaithal, April 10 – In a continuing crackdown on agents deceiving people with false promises of overseas jobs, the Kaithal police arrested a man involved in a major fraud case. Under the directions of SP Rajesh Kalia, the Economic Offenses Wing led by PSI Sandeep Kumar and ASI Manoj Kumar arrested Chandrashekhar, a resident of Teli Khera village in Jind district.
The case was registered following a complaint by Satyawan from Pai village. He reported that his son Rajiv was misled by known acquaintances Pradeep and Gurmeet, who had studied with him at ITI. Pradeep claimed he was going to Europe via Armenia on a work visa and offered to help Rajiv too. The father was then introduced to Chandrashekhar through intermediaries.
The accused claimed they could arrange overseas jobs for ITI pass-outs. They demanded ₹8 lakh for processing and ₹1 lakh for tickets, promising Rajiv a direct job in Europe via Armenia, with a monthly salary of ₹60,000–70,000, plus food and accommodation by the company.
In August 2023, Rajiv was called to Delhi for a medical test. On September 13, 2023, he was summoned to Delhi airport but was not allowed inside, and no visa was shown. He was later sent to Dubai and then to Armenia, where he struggled without food and had to rely on money sent from home. After 50 days of hardship, with no sign of being sent to Europe, Rajiv was forced to return home.
In total, the family was defrauded of ₹9 lakh. The police recovered ₹40,000 and a mobile phone from the accused. He has been taken on two-day police remand for further investigation.
This case has sparked public anger over the exploitation of youth through fake job promises abroad. Locals are urging stricter action and faster justice to prevent such frauds in the future.
