Two More Arrested in 2024 Cheeka Murder Linked to Old Feud
Cheeka, July 22:
In connection with a 2024 murder case rooted in an old family feud, the Special Detective Unit (SDU) of the police has arrested two more accused individuals—Moni Khan and Lalu Khan, both residents of Cheeka. The arrests were made by a team led by Sub-Inspector Mukesh Kumar.
According to police spokespersons, the case dates back to March 30, 2024. Victim Randhir, father of Vijay and Ajay, was attacked near the Banbhori temple in Cheeka while returning from Guhla court after securing bail for his son Vijay. The attack was allegedly motivated by a long-standing enmity after Ajay eloped with a married woman from their native village in 2022. Since then, her family had been threatening Randhir’s family with revenge.
Vijay, who had been imprisoned in Kaithal Jail since March 16, 2024, was informed about the attack shortly after being released. His uncle told him that Randhir and two others were brutally attacked on their way back from court. Randhir later succumbed to his injuries at Kaithal Hospital.
The incident occurred when a red tractor-trolley driven by Jaspal—brother of the eloped woman—blocked Randhir’s vehicle. A white car then rear-ended their vehicle. From that car, multiple attackers, including Nirmal, Sanju, Vijay alias Bakra, Rajendra alias Senti, and others, armed with sticks, gandasis, and hammers, launched a violent assault. They shattered the car windows and inflicted serious injuries with the intent to kill.
Eyewitnesses helped rush the victims to Guhla Hospital, but due to the severity of the injuries, they were referred to Kaithal Hospital. Randhir died while explaining the incident to his son in the ambulance.
A murder case was filed at Cheeka Police Station, and three of the accused had already been arrested earlier. With the recent arrest of Moni Khan and Lalu Khan, the total number of apprehended suspects rises to five.
The two new suspects are set to be presented before the court on Tuesday for further questioning as investigations continue.
