Kaithal, May 5 – The Kaithal Police have stepped up efforts to curb theft, illegal liquor production, and crime across the district. A wave of arrests over the past week shows police are actively pursuing offenders and recovering stolen property.
In separate cases, police teams have caught suspects involved in wire theft, wheat sack robbery, illegal alcohol production, and a wanted bike thief. These actions are part of a broader push to ensure safety and law in the region.

Two More Arrested in Wire Theft Case
The CIA-1 Police Unit arrested two more accused in a major wire theft case. The suspects were identified as Usman and Momin, both from Bijnor, Uttar Pradesh. They were caught in Delhi during a search operation.
According to the police spokesperson, the case originated from a complaint filed by the UHBVN SDO. On April 27, around 4500 meters of ACSR conductor wire meant for a 33 kV power line in village Naina was stolen.
Earlier, two other accused had already been arrested. Police also recovered a Tata Ace vehicle and 1,025 kg of stolen wire. Those two suspects were sent to jail.
Now, Usman and Momin are in three-day police remand for interrogation. Investigators believe their input will help uncover the full network behind the theft.
Two Nabbed in Wheat Sack Theft
In a separate incident, the Pundri Police Post team arrested two men involved in the theft of wheat sacks from the local grain market.
The suspects, Nirmal and Sukhdev alias Bindra, both residents of Pundri, were caught following an investigation led by ASI Rajendra Singh and HC Jarnail Singh.
The theft occurred on April 30, when seven sacks of wheat were stolen from the shop of Ramkumar Singh in the Old Grain Market, Pundri.
After filing an FIR, police tracked down the accused. A police remand is being sought to recover the stolen grain and investigate further links.
Locals in Pundri expressed concern over repeated thefts but appreciated the police’s swift action this time.
Illegal Liquor Crackdown: 90 Litres of Lahan Seized
In another major action, the Mahmoodpur Police Post arrested an individual involved in illegal liquor production.
Based on a tip-off, HC Mangal and his team raided a field in village Sarola. The accused, Narvair, was caught red-handed near two drums containing 90 litres of lahan.
Lahan is a raw ingredient used in brewing illicit country liquor. The case was registered at Guhla Police Station, and further legal action is underway.
This seizure is part of a broader campaign to eliminate illegal liquor trade, which has been a long-standing issue in rural belts.
Bail Jumper Caught in Old Bike Theft Case
Acting on the instructions of SP Aastha Modi, the “Catch PO” team led by SI Omprakash arrested a proclaimed offender in a 2018 bike theft case.
The accused, Rahul, a resident of Kailram, was earlier arrested in connection with a bike stolen from Model Town, Kaithal, on June 8, 2018.
After securing bail from the court, Rahul failed to appear for further proceedings and went into hiding. On March 19, 2025, he was declared a proclaimed offender (PO).
Police have now re-arrested him, and legal proceedings are being resumed. Such efforts are part of a district-wide campaign to catch long-absconding offenders.
