Two Arrested in Separate Crimes in Kaithal: Dowry Harassment and Job Fraud
Kaithal, May 28 – In two separate incidents, Kaithal police arrested suspects in a dowry harassment case and a railway job fraud scheme. Both cases have sparked concern among locals over rising crimes against women and youth.
Mother-in-law Arrested for Dowry Harassment
In the first case, Kaithal’s Women Police Station arrested Sushila, a resident of Dhola Kuan, Chopra Patti, Narwana (Jind), for allegedly harassing her daughter-in-law over dowry demands.
The victim, a resident of a Kaithal colony, was married to Tejendra from Narwana on December 12, 2019. According to her complaint, her family had given dowry as per their capacity, but it failed to satisfy the in-laws.
Post-marriage, she faced both mental and physical torture as her in-laws continuously demanded more dowry. A case was filed under relevant sections of the law, and her husband has already been arrested earlier.
Police, led by Lady Head Constable Seema, carried out the arrest, and further legal action is underway.
Youth Held in Railway Job Fraud Case
In a second incident, Rajoand Police arrested Hitesh, a resident of Behl village in Bhiwani, for deceiving a young woman on the pretext of securing a job in the Indian Railways.
The complaint was filed by Rajesh Kumar from Serdha village, who said that in August 2024, he came into contact with Ramniwas of Alewa, a businessman in organic fertilizer. Their acquaintance grew into friendship, and during a conversation, Rajesh’s niece expressed interest in a job after completing her B.A.
Ramniwas claimed he knew someone—Hitesh—who could arrange a ticket collector’s job in Railways. The victim’s family paid ₹78,000 in two installments. They were promised the job within a month, or a full refund if it didn’t work out.
However, when no job was provided and the family asked for the money back, the accused threatened them with dire consequences.
Police registered a case and had already arrested Ramniwas earlier. Hitesh was caught with ₹9,000 in his possession and has been sent to judicial custody on court orders.
