Rural Self-Employment Training Institute in Gyong Empowering Youth with Vocational Training

DC Preeti Visits PNB-Sponsored Rural Self-Employment Training Institute, Interacts with Trainees

Kaithal, March 24: Deputy Commissioner (DC) Preeti emphasized that instead of seeking jobs, the youth should strive to become job providers. To achieve this, they must set clear goals in life and develop the necessary skills to accomplish them. She stated that with dedication, hard work, discipline, and skill, even the most ambitious goals can be achieved. The Rural Self-Employment Training Institute in Gyong is playing a vital role in making youth self-reliant by offering various skill development programs. Unemployed youth can receive training here and not only secure their own livelihood but also create employment opportunities for others.

DC Preeti made these remarks during her visit to the PNB-sponsored Rural Self-Employment Training Institute in Gyong on Monday. Addressing the trainees, she advised them to focus on starting their own ventures after completing their courses instead of searching for jobs. She encouraged them to develop expertise in their respective fields so that their work is recognized and in demand. Whether it is beauty parlors, tailoring, or any other skill, the key is to focus on quality rather than quantity. She stressed that once a customer experiences quality service, they will return for more. Giving 100% effort in any work will yield excellent results.

During her visit, DC Preeti inquired about the courses offered and the number of students enrolled. She also interacted with young women receiving training and collected feedback on the institute’s programs. She appreciated the training programs on artificial jewelry making, mushroom cultivation, and soft toy production. Instructing the Lead District Manager (LDM), she directed that awareness camps be conducted in ITIs and colleges to promote the institute so that more young men and women can benefit from it and become self-reliant. She also emphasized that after training, efforts should be made to help trainees secure loans and market their products. If necessary, support from other government departments should be sought, requiring coordination and teamwork.

Free Training in Various Trades

Lead Bank Manager S.K. Nanda explained that the institute provides training in multiple vocational fields to enable youth to establish their own businesses and achieve financial independence. The institute offers free training courses ranging from 10 days to a month in fields such as agriculture, animal husbandry, weaving, sewing, beauty parlor services, mobile repair, computer education, soft toy making, fridge and AC repair, electrical appliance repair, dress designing, and bag making.

Impact of the Institute Since 2014

Institute Director Dharmendra Kathuria stated that the institute has been operating successfully in Gyong village since 2014 with the aim of providing training to underprivileged and backward rural youth. Since its inception, a total of 279 self-employment training programs have been conducted, training 7,420 individuals, out of which 4,161 have started their own businesses. The institute also offers free hostel accommodation and meals for trainees.
