Kaithal – While the district police continue to raise awareness about cyber fraud, they are also tightening their grip on cyber criminals under the leadership of SP Rajesh Kalia. In a recent case of investment fraud, a team led by Cyber Crime Police Station in-charge PSI Shubhranshu and PSI Satpal Singh apprehended two accused—Shivam Kumar from Jahwala village in Firozpur, Punjab, and Manavjeet from Suratgarh, Ganganagar, Rajasthan. The arrests were made in Lakhuwali village, Suratgarh, Rajasthan.

According to the police spokesperson, complainant Tarun, a resident of Siwan, reported that he had come across an Instagram advertisement a few days ago. The ad promised high returns through online investments and provided a contact number. Upon messaging the number on WhatsApp, he was told that if he invested as instructed, his money would double in no time. Falling for the scam, he invested ₹52,300 in multiple transactions. Later, the accused pressured him to invest more. When he refused, they blocked his number, making him realize he had been duped. Following his complaint, a case was registered at the Cyber Crime Police Station.

For further investigation, the court has granted three-day police remand for both accused.
