Under the auspices of Shri Bhavani Seva Samiti, a grand Mata Rani Chowki was organized today on the auspicious occasion of the first Navratri in the city. The event took place at Rajkumar’s residence in Ward No. 4 of Chika village, where the atmosphere was filled with devotion and spiritual energy as devotees chanted praises of Mata Rani. Devotees were seen dancing joyfully to the melodious hymns dedicated to the goddess.
Since early morning, a large number of devotees gathered at the ancient Maa Bhavani temple, forming long queues as early as 4 AM.
Significance of Maa Shailputri’s Worship
The priest of the ancient Maa Bhavani temple, Maninder Sharma, explained that Maa Shailputri is the first form of Goddess Durga’s nine manifestations. She is known as the first Durga among the Navdurgas and was named Shailputri because she was born as the daughter of King Himalaya. On the first day of Navratri, her worship and devotion hold special significance.
From a spiritual perspective, yogis begin their practice by concentrating on the ‘Muladhara Chakra’ on this day, marking the commencement of their yogic journey.
He further informed that a daily Havan-Yajna is conducted at the temple during Navratri, and any devotee can participate in this sacred ritual.
