Guhla Cheeka: While the district police, under the orders of SP Rajesh Kalia, are actively spreading awareness among the public about the dangers of drug use, they are also intensifying their crackdown on drug traffickers. As part of this campaign, the Anti-Narcotics Cell has arrested a drug peddler with 1.196 kg of Chura Post.
According to the police spokesperson, a team led by Anti-Narcotics Cell in-charge SI Singh Raj and ASI Praveen Kumar was patrolling near Shaheed Udham Singh Chowk, Cheeka, in the afternoon when they received a tip-off from a reliable source. The source informed them that Singara Singh, a resident of Ward No. 2, Cheeka, had been involved in selling Chura Post for a long time and was on his way to Truck Union, Cheeka, on his bike to sell the contraband.
Acting on this information, the police set up a checkpoint on Khushhal Majra Road, Cheeka. Shortly after, they spotted a suspect on a bike approaching from Khushhal Majra. Upon noticing the police, the suspect attempted to flee towards Cheeka Chowk. The police immediately pursued him, and after a chase along Dera Bhag Singh Road, they managed to apprehend him.
The suspect was identified as Singara Singh, a resident of Ward No. 2, Cheeka. In the presence of Naib Tehsildar Guhla, Bansi Lal, a legal search was conducted, which led to the recovery of 1.196 kg of Chura Post from a polythene bag in his possession.
A case has been registered at Guhla police station, and ASI Amit Kumar arrested the accused on the spot. Singara Singh will be presented in court on Monday, and further interrogation is underway.
