Tragedy at Gaushala: 6 Cattle Die of Electric Shock in Guhla Cheeka

Kaithal, April 21: A shocking incident took place at a Gaushala located on Kaithal Road in Guhla Cheeka today, where five cows and a bull lost their lives due to a sudden electric shock. The tragic event left the entire local community in deep sorrow, with people expressing their grief and reverence for the deceased cattle.

Sudden Incident Leaves No Time to React

According to Darshan Goyal, the head of the Gaushala, the event was completely unexpected and rapid. The electric current passed through the iron pipes used to secure the cattle in one of the chambers. The affected animals collapsed instantly, leaving onlookers stunned.

โ€œThe shock was so sudden that no one could understand what happened. Within seconds, the cattle fell dead,โ€ said Goyal.

A Close Call for Devotees

Every morning, hundreds of devotees, including women and children, visit the Gaushala to offer their service and devotion to the animals. Thankfully, the incident did not occur during the early hours when the Gaushala sees maximum footfall, else it could have led to significant human casualties.

Goyal pointed out that only one chamber was affected by the current. The other sections, where several other cattle reside, remained unharmed.

Cause Identified: Short Circuit in Iron Piping

Post-incident inspections revealed the cause:

  • A short circuit led to electric current flowing through the iron pipes.
  • These pipes, used to confine the cattle, became lethal conductors.
  • The damaged wiring was immediately repaired to prevent further risk.

After the unfortunate deaths, the cattle were respectfully buried, as per traditional practices.

Community Reacts with Shock and Mourning

The news of the cowsโ€™ death spread across the town, triggering widespread mourning. For many in the town, cows are not just animals but hold religious and cultural importance. Locals visited the Gaushala to pay tribute, expressing both grief and solidarity with the Gaushala management.

This tragic episode has also raised concerns about electrical safety in public and religious places, prompting calls for immediate audits and upgrades to old systems.

Anti-Drug Drive: Guhla Police Intensifies Awareness Campaign

In a separate development, the Guhla Police, under the leadership of Superintendent Rajesh Kalia, has ramped up efforts under the โ€˜Nasha Mukt Bharatโ€™ campaign.

As part of this initiative, police teams visited multiple villages, including Paprala, Bhatiyan, Junaidpur, Syumajra, Guhla, and Cheeka, to spread awareness about the hazards of drug abuse.

Community Engagement and Pledge Drives

The awareness campaign was led by DSP Kuldeep Beniwal, who also serves as the district coordinator for the anti-drug program. During these visits:

  • Parents, youth, and local residents were sensitized about the dangers of drugs.
  • People were made to take oaths to stay away from substance abuse.
  • Discussions were held encouraging people to support police action against drug peddlers.

Awareness About Dangers and Prevention

The campaign highlighted that:

  • Addiction slowly destroys lives, often pushing individuals toward crime.
  • Early intervention and open family dialogue can prevent future addiction.
  • Parents were advised to monitor their childrenโ€™s behavior and even check their mobile phones periodically.

โ€œAddiction not only ruins individuals but also brings suffering to families. Awareness is our strongest weapon,โ€ said DSP Beniwal.

Public Asked to Support Police Action

Police urged citizens to report any suspicious drug-related activities by:
