Health Awareness Boosted at DAV College Through Free Medical Camp
In a remarkable initiative to promote community health and student wellness, DAV College, Cheeka organized a free health check-up camp. This effort was part of the 7th Poshan Pakhwada, launched by the Ministry of Women and Child Development. The camp was successfully conducted by the college’s National Service Scheme (NSS) units.
The primary aim of this event was to provide students and the local community with basic medical facilities, promote awareness about malnutrition, and encourage healthy lifestyles. Such health-focused initiatives are key to ensuring a stronger and more aware society.
Local Hospital Joins Hands with NSS Volunteers
To support this noble cause, a team from the Civil Hospital, Guhla participated in the camp. College Principal Dr. Jasbir Singh extended a warm welcome to the hospital team, which included Dr. Arsh, Dr. Shubham, and ANM Renu.
The turnout was highly encouraging. Around 130 students and teachers got their health checked during the camp. Doctors and healthcare workers offered advice on how to lead a healthy life and prevent common illnesses.
Promoting the Value of Good Health
While addressing the gathering, Principal Dr. Jasbir Singh highlighted a powerful message:
โWithout physical and mental health, education and development remain incomplete.โ
He appreciated the presence of doctors and thanked them for their valuable time. He also praised the efforts of NSS volunteers and teachers, acknowledging how their commitment plays a vital role in shaping the character of students.
He further announced that the college would organize more health and awareness programs soon. These would include mental health counseling sessions and yoga camps, underlining the institutionโs commitment to student welfare.
Earth Day Celebrated with Creative Spirit
In addition to the health camp, DAV College also honored Earth Day with a poster-making competition organized by the Eco Club, under the guidance of Dr. Virender Pal. The event aimed to spark environmental awareness and artistic expression among students.
Winners of the competition included:
- Navjot (BA Final Year) โ First Prize
- Pravinder Kaur โ Second Prize
- Jaspreet Kaur and Rajvinder Kaur โ Joint Third Prize
The creative event saw enthusiastic participation and conveyed strong environmental messages. It helped students express their ideas on sustainability and earth care in artistic forms.
Coordination and Execution
The entire program, including both the health camp and Earth Day celebration, was smoothly conducted. The efforts of Prof. Neeraj Singh and Dr. Suman Yadav played a vital role in ensuring everything went as planned. Their teamwork and attention to detail made the day successful and meaningful for all involved.
Building a Culture of Awareness and Care
This initiative reflects the growing sense of responsibility among educational institutions toward holistic student development. Through health camps, wellness programs, and creative competitions, DAV College is shaping its students into well-rounded, socially aware individuals.
Furthermore, the participation of medical professionals and educators together shows how community partnerships can bring real change. These events remind us that even small efforts, when driven by service and care, can impact lives in powerful ways.
Looking Ahead
With more health awareness activities on the way, students can look forward to programs that not only enhance their education but also their overall well-being. From mental health support to yoga sessions, DAV College is actively creating an environment that nurtures both mind and body.
In closing, such initiatives by NSS units go beyond academic walls. They build empathy, strengthen community bonds, and most importantly, inspire young people to contribute positively to society.
