Yoga and Wellness Camp Held for Pregnant Women in Kaithal

On April 23, a special yoga and meditation camp was held at the District Civil Hospital in Kaithal. The event was organized by the AYUSH Department and Haryana Yoga Commission, with support from the Health Department.

The goal of the camp was to support the health of pregnant women. Yoga experts, doctors, and trainers came together to share knowledge and guide the participants.

Expert Advice for Healthy Pregnancy

Dr. Sachin Mandale, Chief Medical Officer at the hospital, stressed the importance of maternal health. “Only a healthy mother can give birth to a healthy child,” he said. He encouraged expectant mothers to eat nutritious food and maintain a calm and positive mindset.

Dr. Anjali Shyokand, an Ayurvedic medical officer, also addressed the group. She said that a mother’s behavior and emotional state during pregnancy can influence the child’s traits and development.

Dr. Vinay Gupta spoke about mental health and its deep connection to both the mother’s and child’s well-being.

Practical Yoga Guidance Shared

Under the guidance of Dr. Shakuntala Dahiya, District Ayurvedic Officer, participants learned yoga techniques suited for pregnancy. Yoga expert Dr. H.S. Huda explained the power of positive thinking through meditation. He emphasized a sattvic diet — including fruits, sprouts, salads, milk, and yogurt — to maintain good health during pregnancy.

He also recommended Chandrabhedi Pranayama, a breathing technique, for managing high blood pressure.

Yoga Practices Tailored for Expectant Mothers

Yoga assistant Virender Arya led the participants through a series of light exercises and breathing techniques. These included:

  • Finger, elbow, shoulder, and knee rotations
  • Butterfly pose (Titli Asan)
  • Gentle seated postures like Bhadrasana
  • Bridge pose (Setubandhasana)
  • Breathing practices such as Anulom-Vilom and Bhramari Pranayama
  • Simple meditation techniques

These practices are designed to ease pregnancy discomforts, promote flexibility, and support mental calmness.

Support from Health Teams

Several yoga instructors and assistants from the AYUSH department took part in the event. Those present included Rekha Devi, Sukhdev, Sandeep, Rajrana, Sohanlal, Satish, Sandeep Kumar, Seema Kumari, and Jitendra Kumar.

Their presence ensured personalized guidance for every participant.

A Step Toward Mindful Motherhood

The yoga and wellness camp was a strong reminder that maternal health needs holistic care. Nutrition, positive thinking, and regular movement are all key to a healthy pregnancy.

Through such efforts, the government continues to support not just healthcare, but well-being for all — starting from the womb.
