DC Preeti’s Summer Action Plan to Beat the Heat

As summer intensifies and heatwaves loom, the district administration of Kaithal is stepping up. Deputy Commissioner (DC) Preeti has issued clear directions to ensure the well-being of the public. The primary focus lies on uninterrupted access to drinking water and electricity.

During a review meeting, she emphasized the need for timely preparedness. Officials from various departments were asked to make arrangements without delay.

Coordinated Response Against Heat Hazards

The meeting was held at the Mini Secretariat auditorium. DC Preeti chaired the discussion, focusing on preventing heatwaves and heatstroke. She directed every department to implement safeguards.

Health, irrigation, power, municipal, and rural departments were among those present. Clear instructions were given to prepare in advance for peak summer days.

Officials must also educate citizens about safety during extreme heat. Information about dos and donโ€™ts during high temperatures should be shared widely.

Water Supply Must Remain Uninterrupted

Water is the most vital need in summer. DC Preeti instructed the Public Health Engineering Department to ensure regular water supply.

She also emphasized the importance of water testing. Clean and safe drinking water must be made available to every area.

In urban zones, the Municipal Committee has been asked to place earthen pots and water coolers at key public points. This will help pedestrians and workers stay hydrated.

Electricity Supply to Remain Stable

Alongside water, continuous power supply is essential. The Electricity Department was instructed to avoid unscheduled power cuts.

Summer heat leads to increased power demand due to fans and coolers. A well-managed power grid will prevent disruption in daily life.

DC Preeti stressed that emergency repair teams must be on standby in case of faults.

Hospitals Must Stock ORS and Medicines

With rising temperatures, cases of heat exhaustion may rise. DC Preeti directed that all hospitals, Primary Health Centres (PHCs), and Community Health Centres (CHCs) keep sufficient medicine stocks.

Oral Rehydration Solution (ORS) packets should be available in large numbers. Immediate response can save lives during heat-related illnesses.

Animal Care and Rural Precautions

The Animal Husbandry Department was also brought into action. Villages must have clean water in ponds for animals. Advisory notices should be sent out to protect cattle from heat stress.

Veterinary hospitals must have essential medicines ready. Rural outreach is crucial, as animals often suffer silently during heatwaves.

Rural Water Points and Awareness

Panchayati Raj Institutions were told to take charge in rural zones. They must create awareness about heat protection and ensure water points in villages.

Public places in villages should have earthen pots filled with clean drinking water. These small steps can prevent large problems.

Additionally, MGNREGA workers, who often work outdoors, must receive special safety provisions. Rest times and shade areas should be ensured.

Industry and Labor Welfare Measures

The Labor Department has been instructed to ensure safety for industrial workers. In factories and workshops, proper rest areas and drinking water must be arranged.

Working conditions during extreme heat can become life-threatening. Workers should not be exposed to direct sunlight for long hours.

Fire Safety and Emergency Readiness

Summer often sees an increase in fire-related incidents. Firefighting vehicles should always remain filled with water.

The Fire Department was told to stay ready for emergencies. Quick action can prevent massive losses during sudden fires.

Transport and Irrigation Support

Transport officials were directed to arrange cold drinking water at all bus stands. Travelers suffer the most in hot conditions.

The Irrigation Department was asked to clean canals and drains. Silt accumulation blocks water flow and adds to problems. Regular cleaning will help maintain water flow for both crops and cattle.

A Unified Summer Safety Mission

DC Preetiโ€™s meeting saw participation from various departments. Among them were ADC Deepak Babu Lal Karwa, DMC Sushil Kumar, HSVP EO Vakil Ahmed, SDM Ajay Singh, and many others.

Their combined efforts aim to reduce discomfort during summer. Every official holds a piece of the solution. Together, they can protect Kaithal from heatwave impacts.

Conclusion: Public First in the Face of Heat

With temperatures already soaring, timely action is the need of the hour. DC Preetiโ€™s directions are people-centric. They reflect a commitment to public health and safety.

Every department has a role in this mission. From hospitals to villages, cities to industriesโ€”preparedness is key.

Through early efforts, public inconvenience can be avoided. This summer, Kaithal aims to stay safe, hydrated, and healthy.
