Ensure Student Safety with School Vehicle Policy: SDMโ€™s Directive

In a firm message to school authorities, SDM Captain Promesh Singh emphasized strict adherence to the Safe School Vehicle Policy during a meeting held on Thursday at his office in Guhla-Cheeka. The meeting included the Block Education Officer and faculty members from various schools.

This directive comes as part of an ongoing drive to enhance student safety and ensure only authorized transport is used for commuting students.

Only Valid Vehicles Must Be Used

During the meeting, SDM Singh clearly stated that all schools must transport students using only legally approved vehicles. Under no circumstance should unsafe or unauthorized options like tempos or jeeps be used.

He said, โ€œSchools must comply with safety norms. Using unsafe transport for children is not just a violationโ€”itโ€™s negligence.โ€

Mandatory Rules for School Buses

To further secure the commute for students, specific guidelines were reiterated:

  • Drivers and conductors must wear uniforms.
  • Every student must be dropped at their home entranceโ€”not on main roads.
  • The color of all school buses should be yellow.
  • All buses must meet the required safety standards.

This step is vital to avoid tragic incidents caused by irresponsible vehicle use.

Regular Checks Are a Must

The SDM asked the Block Education Officer (BEO) for a report on how many school buses have been inspected so far. Stressing the importance of accountability, he directed the BEO to continue periodic checks on all school vehicles.

If any school is found breaching these rules, especially if students are dropped off on the main road, strict action will be taken against the school principal.

Accountability for Principals

One of the key takeaways from the meeting was the added responsibility for school heads. Principals will now be held directly accountable if the policy is ignored.

SDM Singh made it clear: โ€œIf any child is left on the road or transported unsafely, the school principal will face legal and administrative consequences.โ€

Why This Policy Matters

In recent years, incidents involving school transport have raised serious concerns among parents and communities. Overloaded or illegal vehicles have often led to accidents, endangering young lives.

The Safe School Vehicle Policy is designed to eliminate such risks. By ensuring only regulated, well-maintained, and properly operated vehicles are used, authorities aim to create a secure environment for every student.

Community Must Be Alert

Parents, teachers, and local residents are encouraged to report any violations. When the community works together with administration, better safety can be achieved.

If parents notice any unsafe practicesโ€”like students being dropped off unsupervised or the use of unmarked vehiclesโ€”they should inform the school or local authorities immediately.

Not Just a Policyโ€”A Responsibility

The Safe School Vehicle Policy is not just a guidelineโ€”itโ€™s a serious responsibility. Transporting children safely should be every schoolโ€™s top priority.

With strict enforcement and cooperation from schools, authorities hope to avoid any unfortunate incidents in the future.

Officials Present at the Meeting

Several officials participated in the review session. Notable attendees included:

  • Block Education Officer Sukhvinder Singh
  • Teacher Rajeev Kaucher
  • Teacher Charanjeet Kaur
  • Education Officer Archit Sharma

Their presence highlighted the collective commitment to improving school transport standards.

Conclusion: Student Safety Above All

SDM Captain Promesh Singhโ€™s clear directive aims to create a safer, more responsible schooling environment. Every stakeholderโ€”from the school administration to transport providersโ€”has a crucial role in protecting children during their daily commute.

The message is clear: Safe transport is non-negotiable.
