The EditorPublic Welfare Drive in Bakal: Key Services and Strong Anti-Drug Message
Kaithal, May 28 – During a night stay program held in Bakal village, Deputy Commissioner Preeti listened to residents’ problems and issued on-the-spot directions to address them. In response to public demands, she ordered the opening of a bank, Common Service Center (CSC), and a library in the village.
She was joined by Superintendent of Police (SP) Aastha Modi and several district officials. Together, they urged villagers to take active part in the anti-drug campaign, emphasizing that eliminating substance abuse is a shared responsibility.
Night Stay Programs Empower Public Voices
DC Preeti highlighted that such night stay initiatives are effective ways to directly connect with citizens at their doorstep and resolve local grievances swiftly. She reaffirmed the administration’s dedication to serving the public and spreading awareness of welfare schemes under Chief Minister Nayab Saini’s leadership.
In her address, she encouraged residents to benefit from government schemes as per their eligibility. The DC also held direct conversations on drug prevention and traffic safety.
Drug Abuse: A Social Evil to Be Eliminated
Speaking firmly, DC Preeti described drugs as a societal curse that harms both individuals and communities. She urged citizens to report any drug-related activities, promising decisive action.
SP Aastha Modi echoed this sentiment, saying the government has launched an aggressive anti-drug campaign with de-addiction camps and counseling to reintegrate affected individuals into mainstream life.
She also warned people against sharing personal data over the phone and condemned illegal migration methods like the “donkey route,” stressing legal channels for overseas travel.
All attendees took an anti-drug oath, pledging to reject substance abuse.
Road Safety: A Collective Responsibility
DC Preeti and SP Modi advised villagers, especially the elderly, not to allow minors to drive two-wheelers. They also reminded adults to use helmets and seatbelts, not out of fear of the police, but for their own safety.
The DC called for greater women’s participation in such events to ensure their issues are heard as well.
Push for Development and Welfare
Additional Deputy Commissioner Deepak Babulal Karwa spoke about the PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana, encouraging people to adopt it. Panchayats can also install streetlights under this scheme.
He stressed the need to support the ongoing malnutrition eradication campaign, highlighting the importance of nutritious food for children and mothers.
Local Development in Progress
Local representative and Jamba village sarpanch, Labh Singh, shared that MLA Satpal Jamba has pushed forward several projects for Bakal. These include:
- Roads from Bakal to Dhig and Rahra
- Grants for village chaupals and religious rest houses
- ₹10 lakh for a village park
- ₹15 lakh for improvements in two government schools
DSP Gurvinder Singh also educated people on traffic rules and their benefits.
Public Engagement and Exhibition
The day included exhibitions and stalls from various departments: horticulture, family ID, irrigation, PM Awas Yojana, social welfare, sports, MSME, revenue, agriculture, AYUSH, and health services. These stalls informed villagers about available schemes.
In the evening, DC and SP visited the exhibition. Villagers appreciated the administration’s effort to bring services closer to them.
Final Appeal and Acknowledgment
As DC Preeti and SP Modi arrived, they were welcomed by BDO Jagjeet Singh and Sarpanch Narendra. The sarpanch requested strict action against drug peddlers and steps to rehabilitate users. Residents also submitted demands related to clean drinking water, roads, illegal encroachments, canal cleaning, and MNREGA job opportunities.
At the end of the program, the Gram Panchayat honored all officials with mementoes for their service.
