Kaithal, June 3 – Deputy Commissioner Preeti encouraged differently-abled individuals to never view their physical limitations as weaknesses, but instead to overcome them with courage and determination. Speaking at a distribution camp organized by the District Red Cross Society, she said, “If you have passion and willpower, nothing can stop you from succeeding. Today, differently-abled athletes are winning medals and making the nation proud in the Olympics and other competitions.”
During the camp, 289 beneficiaries received 621 assistive devices and advanced artificial limbs. These included 69 motorized tricycles, 62 regular tricycles, 64 hearing aids, 31 wheelchairs, and various other modern devices. Helmets were also distributed, and recipients were encouraged to use them regularly.
DC Preeti emphasized that a differently-abled person is fully capable of leading a life similar to that of a non-disabled individual. “With knowledge, skill, and determination, they can achieve success and become role models for society,” she stated. She further added that the government and administration are committed to supporting them by providing opportunities, necessary tools, and encouragement.
She highlighted that under various government schemes, including social security pensions, financial and material support is being extended to ensure a dignified and easier life for both differently-abled and elderly citizens.
Red Cross Secretary Ramji Lal shared that measurements for the assistive devices were taken between January 1 and 6, 2025, by ALIMCO, and the devices were distributed by DC Preeti and Indian Red Cross Society Haryana State Secretary Mahesh Jogi. A total of ₹54.28 lakh was spent on the equipment, funded by the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, Government of India.
He urged the community to participate selflessly in public welfare and always be ready to support the differently-abled.
The event was attended by District Social Welfare Officer Sudesh Kumar, Dr. Birbal Dalal, Ashok Sahu, Krishan, Malti Incharge, Shyam Bansal, Chandergupt Goyal, Pawan Kumar, Lalit, Dr. Anil, and other officials and social workers.
