Cheeka Gears Up for International Yoga Day on June 21

Cheeka, June 10 — A grand block-level International Yoga Day celebration will be held on June 21 at the Old Grain Market in Cheeka, SDM Captain Parmesh Singh announced. A pilot rehearsal will take place on June 20 at the same venue, ensuring the active involvement of government officials, employees, social organizations, and the general public.

To ensure smooth execution, SDM Singh has assigned duties to all relevant departments. Preparatory meetings were held in his office, where he briefed departmental officials and employees on their roles and responsibilities. This year’s theme is “Yoga for One Earth, One Health.”

Key Arrangements and Responsibilities:

  • Education, AYUSH, and Sports Departments have been tasked with managing program logistics and participant coordination.
  • Police Department will handle traffic and parking arrangements.
  • Municipality and Market Committee will oversee cleanliness and sanitation, including toilets around the venue.
  • Health Department will ensure the presence of ASHA workers, ANMs, GNM staff, ambulances, ORS supplies, and first aid.
  • Electricity and Public Health Departments will guarantee power and drinking water supply at the venue.
  • The BDPO Office will ensure participation of village heads, elected representatives, and students.

Yoga Training and Marathon Events:

Ahead of the main event, yoga training sessions will be conducted for officials and employees from June 12 to 14 at the same venue. On June 15, a district-level marathon will be flagged off from Shaheed Udham Singh Chowk and will conclude at the Old Bus Stand. Deputy Commissioner Preeti will attend as the chief guest.

Dr. Vikramjeet Singh, AYUSH Medical Officer and program nodal officer, presented a detailed outline of the Yoga Day schedule to SDM Singh.

Present at the planning meeting were Block Education Officer Balbir Singh, Market Committee Secretary Satbir Rawish, Municipality Secretary Jitendra Kumar, and other key department officers including SDOs Ajmer Singh and Indraraj Pawar.

The town of Cheeka is preparing with enthusiasm to celebrate Yoga Day as a collective effort toward health, unity, and well-being.
