Police Crack Down on Drug Trade in Cheeka
Under the direction of SP Aastha Modi, Kaithal police have intensified efforts to curb drug trafficking across the district. In a recent success, the CIA-1 team arrested a local drug dealer in Cheeka and seized a significant quantity of heroin.
Tip-Off Leads to Arrest
CIA-1 in-charge SI Jaswant Singh and ASI Gurdan Singh were patrolling near Patiala Road, Cheeka, when they received a confidential tip. The informer stated that Omprakash, a resident of Sanjay Basti, was on his way to deliver heroin in an MG Astor vehicle.
Police Set Up Checkpoint and Intercept Suspect
Acting on the information, the team quickly set up a checkpoint on Patiala Road. Soon, a suspicious vehicle matching the description approached. When asked to stop, the driver tried to flee but was caught by the alert police team.
32.25 Grams of Heroin Recovered
The suspect, identified as Omprakash, was searched in the presence of Naib Tehsildar Bansi Lal. The search led to the recovery of 32.25 grams of heroin (chitta) wrapped in a white plastic packet. A case was registered at Cheeka Police Station, and the accused was arrested by SI Praveen Kumar.
Punjab-Based Supplier Also Caught
During interrogation, Omprakash revealed that he had received the heroin from Harjinder Singh, a resident of Kalajhar village in Sangrur district, Punjab. Police swiftly acted on this lead and arrested Harjinder Singh.
Legal Action Taken
Omprakash has been sent to judicial custody, while supplier Harjinder Singh has been remanded to four days of police custody for further investigation.

The Kaithal police emphasized their commitment to making the district drug-free. They urged the public to remain vigilant, avoid drugs, and report any suspicious activities to help combat the drug menace.
