Ghaggar River Water Level Under Control

Guhla Cheeka, August 29:
The water level of the Ghaggar River, flowing through the Tatiana area, remains under control. However, the administration has switched to alert mode, raising concern among farmers and local residents.

Current Measurements and Flow

As of Friday evening at 4 PM, the river’s water level was measured at approximately 9.5 feet. Currently, there is no immediate danger, but authorities are closely monitoring the situation.

Increased Vigilance on Weak Embankments

Precautionary measures have been taken, with monitoring intensified on weak riverbanks. All relevant teams have been deployed to ensure safety.

Impact of Rainfall on Tributaries

SDO of the Irrigation Department, Ajmer Malik, stated that the river is currently carrying around 14,630 cubic feet per second (cusec) of water. Continuous rainfall in the hilly areas has caused water from the Markanda River to flow into the Ghaggar.

Preparedness for Any Emergency

While there is a possibility of the water level rising further overnight, the situation remains under control. The administration has prepared fully to handle any potential emergencies, ensuring the safety of nearby villages and farmland.
