Kaithal Police Traces 50 Lost Mobile Phones Worth ₹8.5 Lakh in August

Kaithal, September 1, 2025
Under the guidance of SP Aastha Modi, the district Cyber Cell has successfully recovered 50 lost mobile phones worth over ₹8.5 lakh during the month of August. The initiative not only brought relief to the owners but also prevented potential misuse of these devices by criminal elements.

Phones Handed Over to Owners

In a special event at Kaithal Police Lines, DSP Sushil Prakash formally handed over the recovered phones to their rightful owners. The moment turned emotional as several citizens expressed gratitude towards Kaithal Police, saying “Thanks Kaithal Police” for their sincere efforts.

How the Cyber Cell Operated

The operation was led by ASI Rakesh, supported by ASI Randeep Singh, HC Deepak, HC Surender Singh, and Constable Anil Kumar. By gathering crucial digital clues and monitoring complaints on the CEIR (Central Equipment Identity Register) portal, the Cyber Cell successfully traced and restored dozens of missing mobile phones.

DSP Prakash explained that once a complaint is registered on the CEIR portal, the IMEI number of the lost mobile is blocked, preventing its misuse. When the phone is later traced, the complainant is promptly informed.

SP Aastha Modi’s Advisory

SP Aastha Modi appreciated the Cyber Cell’s achievement and urged the public to remain vigilant. She emphasized that reporting on the CEIR portal immediately after losing a mobile phone ensures that it cannot be misused and increases the chances of recovery.

She further advised citizens to:

  • Keep their mobile phones safe and avoid handing them to strangers.
  • Use the e-Disha centers or online services to register lost phone complaints.
  • Cooperate with police in tracing devices through the CEIR system.

“Recovering these phones is not just about returning property, it also prevents criminals from exploiting stolen devices,” she added.
