Committees to Be Formed in Villages Along Ghaggar River: SDM Capt. Parmesh Singh

Guhla-Cheeka, September 2, 2025
Taking precautionary measures against rising water levels in the Ghaggar River, SDM Capt. Parmesh Singh chaired a meeting with officials of various departments at the Block Development and Panchayat Officer’s office in Cheeka. He directed all officers and staff to remain stationed, alert, and fully prepared.

Village Committees for Flood Preparedness

The SDM announced that committees will be formed in all villages along the Ghaggar River to regularly monitor the situation and spread awareness among locals. Each committee will include the Gram Sachiv (village secretary), Sarpanch, Chowkidar, Lineman, and one member from the Education Department.

“If villagers face any difficulty, the matter must immediately be reported to higher authorities so that timely relief can be provided,” Capt. Singh emphasized.

Identifying Safe Zones and Relief Measures

Officials were instructed to identify safe locations that could be used during emergencies. He assured that in case of a flood-like situation, local social organizations would provide relief material, and proper distribution will be ensured.

Health officials were directed to keep ambulances, first aid, and essential medicines ready, while ASHA and ANM workers must remain present in their respective villages. Electricity staff were also told to be on standby to restore power supply in case of waterlogging.

Appeal Against Rumors

The SDM urged citizens to avoid spreading or believing in rumors. Sharing old flood photos and videos on social media was strongly discouraged. “Anyone found guilty of spreading false information will face strict action,” he warned.
