Farmers advised to report crop damage on e-compensation portal
Guhla-Cheeka, September 10. SDM Captain Parmesh Singh informed that the water level of the Ghaggar River is continuously declining, bringing relief to the residents. As per Wednesday’s 3 PM report, the water level was recorded at 23.9 feet with 51,414 cusecs of water. On Tuesday at 7 AM, the water level was 24.8 feet with 54,349 cusecs. This means nearly 2,935 cusecs of water has receded within a day.
Farmers whose crops have been damaged due to waterlogging in their fields have been urged to register their reports on the e-compensation portal so that timely compensation can be provided.
SDM Captain Parmesh Singh said that both the district and local administrations are closely monitoring the waterlogging situation of the Ghaggar. On September 9, a 10-foot-wide embankment near Sarola siphon had broken, but it was repaired by the Irrigation Department with the help of Poklen machines and villagers. No residential areas have been affected; only fields experienced waterlogging. The situation is under control, and water in agricultural fields near the Ghaggar is gradually receding.
He further added that the Irrigation Department is continuously working on strengthening weak embankments. Several machines and labor teams are engaged in this task. Village-level teams are also monitoring the situation. The police department has made strict security arrangements at key locations. A Police Flood Warning Station has been set up at Brahm Shakti Ashram near Ghaggar Tatyana gauge on Kaithal-Patiala Road. Meanwhile, various departments are ensuring that all basic facilities are provided in the villages.
