Submit Crop Compensation Details by September 15 to Avoid Issues

Awareness Camp Organized in Sarol Village

Cheeka, September 12 – An awareness camp was organized in village Sarol under the directions of the State Legal Services Authority to guide flood-affected farmers about compensation. The camp was held under the guidance of District Legal Services Authority Secretary Kaval Kumar and the chairmanship of Additional Civil Judge and Sub-Divisional Legal Services Committee President Akshay Chaudhary.

Online Registration Open Until September 15

Panel Advocate Jeevan Singh Nain addressed the farmers and informed them that an online compensation registration portal has been launched for crops damaged due to floods and heavy rainfall. He cautioned that the portal will remain active only until September 15, and failure to register details in time may cause hurdles in receiving compensation.

Precautions Against Health Problems

Advocate Nain also advised villagers to stay alert about health concerns after floods. Children and the elderly are at higher risk of infections. He urged residents to get water supplies checked and consume only boiled water if there is any doubt about contamination.

Demand to Raise the Height of the Embankment

The Gram Panchayat submitted a memorandum to the Legal Services Authority demanding that the height of the embankment from Sarol to Khushal Majra be increased by at least six feet. Villagers said the current height is insufficient, allowing floodwater to enter fields and residential areas, causing heavy losses.

Call for Transparency in Compensation Distribution

Villagers also alleged that during crop damage evaluation, genuine farmers are often ignored while compensation is granted to those with minimal losses. Advocate Nain assured them that their grievances and demands would be presented before the Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM).

Villagers in Attendance

Among those present were village Sarpanch Rupinder Kaur, Panch members Virender Singh, Tarseem Singh, Yadvinder Singh, Manjeet Kaur, and Sarvjeet Kaur along with other prominent villagers.
