Review Meeting on Sex Ratio

A meeting of the District Standing Committee was held in the mini-secretariat auditorium, Kaithal, to review the current sex ratio and strategize measures for its improvement. The meeting was chaired by RTA Girish Kumar, who stressed that improving the sex ratio is a collective responsibility.

He said that if every stakeholder performs their duty sincerely, positive results will be achieved. Instructions were given to ensure 100% compliance with PNDT, MTP, and ART Acts.

Focus on Low-Ratio Villages

The committee was directed to focus on villages with a low or declining sex ratio compared to previous records. Reasons for the decline should be identified, and effective strategies must be prepared to tackle the issue.

Girish Kumar described female foeticide as a serious crime and called for strict action against it. Special attention should be given to areas where residents might travel to neighboring states for illegal sex determination tests. Dedicated teams must be formed for strict enforcement.

Awareness and Registration Drive

He emphasized that birth and death registrations must be ensured 100%. Citizens were urged to immediately report any information regarding illegal sex determination or abortion to the police or health department. The identity of informants will be kept confidential.

Parents should be educated about the importance of girls, with special focus on their education and health. Schools were asked to hold discussions during prayer assemblies to highlight gender equality and instill the idea that boys and girls are equal.

Officials Present

The meeting was attended by CEO Zila Parishad Suresh Rawish, SDM Ajay Singh, HSVP CEO Waqil Ahmed, Sugar Mill MD Krishan Kumar, CMO Dr. Renu Chawla, DSP Birbhan, DIPRO Naseeb Saini, and District Program Officer Gurjeet Kaur from the Women and Child Development Department, along with other officials and staff.
