🚨 Beware of Cyber Fraud Through Online Betting Sites: SP Upasana Kaithal

Online Betting Scams on the Rise

Kaithal, October 16 — In the digital entertainment era, online betting and gambling websites are increasingly attracting people with promises of easy money. However, SP Upasana has warned that many of these platforms are run by cyber fraudsters who are deceiving people and stealing large sums of money.

How Cyber Criminals Trap Victims

SP Upasana explained that these cybercriminals lure victims through social media, YouTube ads, WhatsApp groups, and fake websites offering attractive bonuses. Initially, they provide small returns to win trust, but later convince users to invest more money before suddenly shutting down the app or website.
In some cases, fraudsters pretend to be customer care representatives, asking victims to share OTP, UPI PIN, or install remote access apps — allowing them to wipe out entire bank accounts.

Betting Platforms Are Illegal in India

SP Upasana emphasized that according to Indian law, all online betting and gambling platforms are illegal. These platforms are neither recognized by any government body nor do they ensure the safety of deposited money.
Fraudsters usually host these websites on foreign domains, making it difficult for authorities to trace or take action even after complaints are filed.

SP Upasana’s Safety Guidelines

She urged citizens to avoid depositing money on any app or website claiming to offer easy returns through betting or casino games.

  • Never click on suspicious links without verifying authenticity.
  • Avoid transferring money to unknown accounts or numbers.
  • Always check reviews and permissions before downloading apps.
  • Never share your bank details, Aadhaar, PAN, OTP, or password with anyone.
  • Stay alert if someone promises guaranteed returns on investment.

What to Do If You Are Cheated

SP Upasana advised that if anyone becomes a victim of such cyber fraud, they should immediately call the Cyber Helpline Number 1930 and file a complaint. Acting quickly increases the chance of recovering lost money.
