The EditorThe increasing number of accidental road deaths has become a serious concern across Haryana. To address this, St. John Ambulance International Association, Kaithal District Branch, organized a four-day “First Aid Training at Your Doorstep” program in Bhuna village, training 54 young participants in lifesaving First Aid and CPR skills.
The camp was conducted at Shishu Niketan Senior Secondary School, Bhuna. The training aimed to prepare youth for conductor license requirements through basic For Bhuna Road Accident Safety & First Aid education, while also encouraging them to contribute to society as responsible volunteers.
Feeding or Giving Water to the Unconscious Can Be Fatal
Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Raja Singh Jhijar, Secretary of St. John Ambulance and National First Aid Specialist, emphasized the importance of immediate and correct First Aid during road emergencies.
He cautioned participants that attempting to feed or give water to an unconscious accident victim can prove life-threatening, as it may block the airway and lead to choking.
Road Safety Data and Mission
Dr Raja Singh Jhijar noted that as per statistics, over 5,000 people die and 1,200 suffer serious injuries every year in road accidents in Haryana. These numbers, he said, can be reduced significantly with timely and accurate First Aid response.
He further explained that the program supports the objectives of the Government of India’s National Paramount Mission 2030, aimed at empowering youth and common citizens with First Aid knowledge.
CPR Practice for Real-Life Situations
School Manager Raghubir Sharma praised the initiative and said that only practical practice of CPR can help save a life, as theoretical knowledge alone is not sufficient when a person stops breathing or loses heartbeat.
Training Attendance & Community Participation
A total of 54 trainees participated in the program, including CSC operator Pradeep Kumar, Master Krishan Kumar, Kartar Singh, Akshit Kumar, Manish Kumar, Aman Sharma, Ankit, Sahil, Happy, Prince Kumar, Bindar Kumar, Satish, Shivam, Shamsher Singh, Nitin Kumar, Mohan, Rajpal, Karmveer, and other villagers.
